I do not think that you can pick it up from the factory. The factory does a PDI and the dealer does also. But strangely enough you will still find things.

We thought we wanted a fiberglass rood and power steps, she advised against both saying there have been problems with both, we listened. Bottom line for us was not saving money as much as having the RV we really wanted. We did end up with a great price and a great RV!
What kind of problems have there been with the fiberglass roof. I have not heard of any except when they did it in two pieces, I believe the first time in 2006. Did Alicia say what kind of problems with the fiberglass roof? I order the fiberglass roof and would not go back to the rubber.

I can't speak to the problems with the fiberglass roof, but from what I've heard, it only has a 1 year warranty while the "rubber" roof has a 10 year one.

As for it being two pieces, for some reason, I'm thinking that changed to a one piece after DRV went to the straight-line roof.

Now, all that said, I would definitely not take my words to mean things haven't changed. You might check with a dealer somewhere or directly contact the factory.

She just said problems, I did not ask, she then said the warranty was 1yr VS 10 yr. She could have made more money with the fiberglass.

We followed along the same lines as Hugh did. Sent emails stating what unit we wanted along with the options. Sent to 3 major dealers within 500 miles of us. Got 3 replies. All were farely close to each other. (2-3k difference) RVsForLess gave the best price so we took a trip down to see them. We spent about 2 hours talking to the owners and also lisening to thier suggestion on what options were good choices and those that were not. In the end they saved us even more money, got more coach than initially went in for and have been treated quite well after the sale. (we ordered) So...my suggestion is to start by giving multible dealers your wish list and start eliminating by thier responses.

Good Luck

Whomever you buy from has to go to the factory to pick up the coach. They'd probably be glad to meet you there and let you take it home. They could do the prep there and if there is an issue, the factory could take care of that should it be something the dealer can't take care of. This is what I would have done as the factory was closer than ALL of the dealers. There's a nice guy, Goodrich Trailers around LaCrosse I believe, in Wisconsin but he was further than the factory for us. We were originally from Milwaukee and now summer near Madison at a resort where we own a site. What area are you from, Kannon?

When we were in Howe last November our tour guide told me Goodrich is no longer a DRV dealer, I asked as I was curious if there still was a dealer in Wisconsin. The closest dealer to Milwaukee that I know about is Bradley Bourbonnais RV Center (formerly Brown & Brown).

I live outside of watertown, township of Lebanon.Out in the sticks.DRV informed me currently no dealers in Wisconsin. He stated they are in talks with 2 dealers in state, but did not say which dealers.Working with Dwayne he is the regional sales manager for drv.He will let me know when a jx450 comes off the line and will schedule visit after maple syrup season is over (early april).Jim

We actually stay between Watertown and Madison at Riverbend Resort (the best thing since sliced bread, our site is ON the Crawfish River). People typically know where Madison is, so we use that for reference, it's about 20 miles away. DRV needs to get a dealer in Wisconsin. We first saw the Suites at the Milwaukee RV show and never wanted anything else afterwards. We might've considered a New Horizons but weight seemed a factor. You might want to check RVT for a Toy Hauler.......there seemed to be several last year's models around you could get a tighter deal on. But 30% off seemed about the best I've seen. I'm sure someone would give you a priceing sheet.....but they had some odd "packages" that were mandatory. Again who knows what has changed with the thor takeover. PM me if you want to talk. We love ours.
