Rv Body Shop
I am looking for a good RV body shop near the factory (close to parts source). Looking at Duncan. Any others or comment about them?

I don't think they have a website but they do have a facebook page.
https://www.facebook.com/paulsrvservice/
They are in Wakarusa and do fabulous work for a reasonable price.
Tell them Roger with the Four Winds water tank issue sent you!
They saved the day when our fresh water tank needed replaced and Thor was being ignorant.
BTW - I've heard that Duncan does pretty good work but in my dealings with them I had a hard time getting responses from them in a timely manner.
And if neither of them can schedule your work try:

Basically it is. A few months ago I had a disagreement with a fueling island pump protection pole. I got caught to close to the pump and forced to make a sharp right turn to get out. Not good. While pulling 5th wheels for over 15 yrs, I had never had the pleasure of experiencing rear trailer swing before. The pole and the fact that I had no idea that I had hit anything, almost completely tore the lower part of the rear cap off the rig. I pulled the hanging rear back in and screwed it together with some wood under the cap and re-screwed the side to hold it all in place. Kansas RV thinks replacing the whole cap will save time and $$ for around 7K. The insurance estimate was closer to 5K. I am not so concerned about the price tag as long as the insurance covers the repair, but I will need to get it done before Oct when my policy renews or rather most likely ends since National Interstate is getting out of the RV insurance business.
I am presently working in MD and I have not found what I am looking for.

Thanks Roger. Sounds like Duncan is very busy, much like Kansas RV.

WOW, that sucks. That hurts just looking at it. But it is a reminder that it could happen to anyone. I was just in Lothian,MD for 3 weeks.

Same thing happened to me on my last '05--$6500--same corner. Had it repaired in Burleson, TX, near where I was living. Couldn't tell it was ever hit.
Glass shop said they couldn't depend on getting a complete cap as they are extremely difficult to ship without damage, and no matter what the mfg uses for a matching part number, there is almost always something that isn't the same as what the original was.
A good boat fiberglass shop can fix it like new.

Why not schedule the factory to do the work then send it to one of their paint shops?

If you do that, I would go to Carerra or Mikes. Carerra just did our paint warranty work and did a great job. If you go there ask for Jeremy as he runs the paint shop. Slade from RR told me that Mikes does good work also.

They have a very nice new facility that could easily take care of your issue.
I would DEMAND they install some proper backing, see pic #1 you posted. There is only aluminum for the trim pc to screw into and it fails on any of the newer rigs.
First pic is 3,000 miles AFTER the factory supposedly fixed the problem. Pic shows how I repaired it.

Yes. I too was surprised to find that the thin aluminum was what the molding was screwed to.
Is there a particular phone number or person at DRV I should contact to see about the repair?

guess what time he calls me back?

Eds hours are like 7am to 3pm. You could also just email him at EdFry@DRVSuites.com

Thanks. That is just what I needed. You would have thought he could have let me know that rather than play phone tag. I know he is busy. So am I.

The Email worked.
Never heard that term before, but I did look it up
I asked several questions and he answered one. Good time management.

The good thing about emails is that it also creates paper trails.

I did get an email estimate cheaper than any so far, even the insurance co.
Same time though, about a week. Next opening..October. Works well for me.
