I did not remove the door gasket. So, just installed ‘MD Door & Window’ 1/4 “ x 1/2” High Density Foam Tape’ directly on the fridge and freezer frame. No change to the door with factory gasket. Initially, the foam will seem to be to thick as you close the door. After 48 hours, the foam fits like it should when first purchased. Note, I’ve dealt with this issue for 18 months and not able to use the residential refrigerator. Now, less than $5, works perfectly and the temperature has been close to 90 degrees for several days.

Whirlpool was here. Says I either have a small leak or it was undercharged at the factory. Is gonna replace the evaporator, dryer and compressor. Parts are ordered and he is coming back next Wednesday to put them in.

Most likely you have a leak...the factory doesn't charge them. They come into the factory ready to install.

One more week...
At least you now know the direction in which the process is heading.
Let us know when we can start showing up with beer that needs to be cooled down!

The whirlpool factory, not the DRV factory.

Unless they did an extensive check for leaks with a good sniffer, they have no idea where the leak is and replacing parts is not going to fix it. (unless they happen to get the leak by accident when changing parts)

Hope this helps in your decision making!
I was thinking the same thing that once you remove the doors it should be able to go through the front door.

Unbelievable! Having done repair service in my business, I carried everything one would need to repair/replace a part. Unfortunately today, we are a throw away society and there is just no loyalty with vendors anymore! Your problem is not their problem. Tough! Another reason why I try and fix everything I can myself! Unfortunately, my Whirlpool fridge is not producing ice and have tried all I can to fix myself. Guess I will be subject to the dreaded repair company as well. Geez!

juice=Several years ago we had a Whirlpool in our trailer. It would make ice once in a while but not very often. Whirlpool replaced the ice maker and control board once in Texas, the ice maker 3 times and the control board 1 times in Arizona and the water solenoid twice in Arizona. Same results, it never worked right.
I met a guy in an rv park who used to be a tech on Whirlpool appliances. He asked me if anyone had ever checked the 2" long tube that supplied water to the ice maker. I told him no. This was on a unit with the nice maker in the freezer under the frig. The water actually enters the frig part and goes down the back left side where it enters the freezer. Cold air drops, so guess where the coldest part of the frig is
You guessed it. The low spot in the left corner. He removed the tube, ran some hot water in it to thaw it out and wrapped it with silver duct tape. Worked like a charm for the rest of the time we owned that rig.
Maybe this is your problem? Take a hair dryer to the area close to where the input tube is and give it a try. Couldn't hurt and may help.

Bill

Experience can be a cruel; but effective Teacher...
I hope that your advice is able to get "Juice": back on ice!

Thanks Bill, but we have the side by side and the ice maker is at the top. It sounds like it should be working, but no cigar. This one has a ice door that when you open the freezer, you can lift out to dump ice if you wish. It also has a switch located on the left side of the container the ice basket fits into and on the right, a small flapper that when the ice basket is removed, it stops ice from dumping into the area the basket was in. I hope this makes sense!
I have water in the door, but no ice being made. Frustrating to say the least. We will be heading up to Clermont TT in mid July, so will call a tech then to diagnose the problem.

It is my understanding and was the case with our Whirlpool that the ice maker shuts off if the temp is above 15 degrees. We went 1-1/2 years with sporadic ice until the refrigerator was replaced. It didn't work properly from the day it was installed new.

I found that by pushing in on each of the wires in the back where the Ice maker plugs in with a small screw driver, helped.

Whirlpool guy here today, replaced evaporator, compressor, and dryer. 3 hours later cooled down to 38 fridge and 0 in freezer. Gonna wait till Saturday and install it back in it's hole. Wanna make sure it's really fixed.
