What hitch to get.
I have a 40kssb4 ordered and my old 18k Reese won't work. I can get a Curt 24k hitch for $738. A Hensley TS3 will cost $3300 and is really heavy for getting out of truck. I put air spings on truck to level truck. It's a 2016 Ford dually 4x4. Opinions on whether the TS3 will make the ride that much better or save wear and tear on the MS are deeply appreciated. Thanks

Do you have the 5th wheel prep, pucks in the bed of the truck? I have a Ram with the 5th wheel prep and I bought a B&W hitch that just drops into the factory puck set up. I think it is a 25k hitch, but it is HEAVY DUTY hitch built really well.

Yes. I got Firestone Ride Rite and Airlift wireless compressor. I wanted BW hitch but have been told several times that they don't make a 25k hitch for the Ford pucks which I have on truck. I was hoping to get a hitch that two people could lift out of truck but if the TS3 is will really save wear and tear on the MS and improve ride I will get it. Wish BW made a hitch for me.

Did your dealer advise you to get the risers?

Most of the dealers are CLUELESS when it comes to that. There main goal is to get the sale. The way I look at it is, it is better to have as much clearence on the bed walls of the rear box. As you can adjust the hitch height so you can tow level and give you the most clearence.
It is a TON cheaper to order it with them then going to Moryde to have them welded in later.

Yes on 2" risers. Fine folks on this site steared us right. Alicia at RR helped us with the rest. Got time to figure out the hitch question. Hope to see y'all on the road. Thanks.

After towing with a Hensley Trailer Saver I wouldn't use any other hitch. It removes all the bounce from the trailer to the truck. I am always amused to watch the pressure gage on our dash bounce up and down and the fact we can't feel it in the truck. I know it is a lot of money, but I feel it is well worth the cost.
I believe they also make an adapter that allows you to use the Ford 4 puck system.

I second the Comfort Ride. I have had mine about 4 years now and love it. Just had it moved from my 12 to my new 17.

Just look at them side by side, I would trust the 20K non puck B&W over Curt or Reese higher rated hitches ANY day. If it matters the Curt is Made in China and the Reese is also or Made in Mexico.
B&W rates their products to the lowest denominator, they are vERY conservative. Remember the Craftsman vacs that "develop" 6hp???

I like the B&W hitches very much but am worried about liability and warranty issues. The hitch people said the Curt hitches were also made in the US and they also sell B&W hitches. I will check this out because this matters to me on many different levels. Buy American. Thank you for your time.

I agree. I have the Trailer Saver TS3 with a 3" spacer. I love it and wouldn't have any thing else. Air hitches make all the difference. I have used one for the past 13 years. Expensive --- yes. This is not an area where you want to "skimp" . IMHO

ALL CURT 5er hitches are made in CHINA. Their web site is VERY DECEIVING. Their ball coupler n receiver hitches are USA.

There are lots of hitches on the market, probably all good. Just put a B&W puck hitch in the new 450, rides very well.
Have used them since 2007 and they have all done well.
Saw my first Comfort Ride couple of days ago--looks interesting. But I couldn't get it out of the truck without some big time help.

I have good luck with the Reese 25k hitch. Firestone airbags.
No lift necessary on most fords. Rides great.

I'll second the satisfaction with the puck mounted 25K Reese Elite (pictured above). I only wanted a puck frame mount. It's very easy to remove / lube the head assy. neither part is so heavy that an old man can't lift it. In 20K Mi. no squeaks, rattles or noise. Doubt it will wear out in my limited lifetime.
B&W is indeed a fine product for the Ram. If they want to sell products for American trucks, offer them for all of them.
If your budget / capacity will allow, go TS3. They seem to be well liked.
Factory 2" riser is the way to go regardless of whether you think you need it or not. The newer trucks are just to tall. I'd bet it's nominal cost would carry to the bottom line on resale.
Be well.
