You might want to check your smoke detector

Yesterday while preparing for our summer on the road I wanted to change the battery in the smoke detector. With a new rig last year I saw no reason the check it. (my bad) When I opened the unit up I was surprised to see the plastic tab the isolates the battery from the contacts still in place. We spent 6 months traveling last year with no smoke detector. I don't know who should have removed the tab the factory or dealer. You might take a look at yours.

Certainly something worth looking into.

Wow, I would say the dealer should have removed the plastic tab. Glad to know that you did not need it when you were in it for 6 months.

Does anyone know if the smoke detector doubles as a carbon monoxide detector

If it's doubling as CO detector then I'd add another down low. The CO detector in most rvs also is a LPG detector & should be down low on the end of a cabinet somewhere.

The CO and propane leak detector on our 24.1 is down low to the floor below the passenger side bed. I know that ours works because my wife used hairspray near it and it went off. There is propane in the hairspray that caused the activation. Good to know that it does work. Our smoke detector was missing the battery when we bought it new. It had been at a RV show..... people.....

Another good thing to do is push the test button once and a while to make sure the battery is good and its working properly.

I bought a two pack of CO detectors from Amazon. Put one in the living room area and one in the bedroom. Cant have to any.
