1st RV

Just bought a 2015 Windsport 34E.

Haven't picked it up yet, maybe this weekend...

What negatives should I be prepared to discover?

Demand that the coach get a full alignment before you take possession!

Also go over it with a fine tooth comb before you sign the papers.
ie open and close all doors/drawers including the slides(inside and out).
Check all the electronic devices to make sure they work.
move the cushions and look for loose/missing screws everywhere.... test the stove and oven, have them fill the water tank and check for all operations(inside and out) including hot water in shower/sinks. and test the holding tanks for integrity.run the gennie and check all outlets and run the A/C . AND then do the same electrical check on shore power.
Then get up on the roof and check for gaps between the front & rear end caps to roof seams(THIS is important!)

Lastly pack a change of clothes and grab some bedding, minimal cooking stuff ad food for two meals (dinner & breakfast) then if you can do a dry camp overnight at the sales lot... this will give you more time to try everything out before leaving with the new coach..

It's YOUR MONEY that they want..make them EARN IT!
Don't EVER trust the dealer to do a full prep..

Roger that.

I haven't picked it up yet because it was still snowing when I did the paperwork. The service guy walked me thru most of the operations inside the service bay, but it was still freezing outside so the water tanks and a/c didn't get tested. I don't know if I trust them to even do an alignment, even though they would no doubt say they had... This country is pretty bad these days.

Thanks for the Sit-Rep.

The alignment needs to be done by a truck shop. Most RV dealers do not invest in alignment machines, instead they sub it out to tire shops. Most of these guys are setr up to do cars and light trucks. Ask to see their alignment equiotment, and if they do not have it ask who they are going to sub it out too. Than go visit that shop and check them out

Thanks for the input.

I can lead a fire team into battle, call for air support, rig artillery pieces to be choppered out, replace shafts and wheels on a boat, pull engines from cars, build homes, operate heavy equipment, field dress and prepare wild game, make fire, but I've never owned an RV before...

Well that's quite a resume, you're about to add another item to that list, RV OWNER, which to anyone that has one will tell you "prepare for an adventure" & take tools. Hopefully you are as lucky as we were/are & get one of the gooduns you will still need the tools as there's ALWAYS some thing to adjust/repair/replace/ rebuild or to just make it to better suit your needs. Good luck & enjoy the adventure.
