2017 Freedom Elite 29fe house battery keeps dying

I have had my battery switch in my 2017 freedom elite in the store setting but my battery keeps dying between trips. Is there anything else I should be doing to store my RV so the battery doesn't die? Thanks for your help!

Put a battery disconnect on the house batteries so they don't drain from "always on" parasitic loads when in storage. Things like CO and propane detectors are examples of "always on" loads.

wouldn't that be the switch that says store, is that not a built-in battery disconnect? Thanks, I am all new to this!

No, it doesn't disconnect everything, as you have obviously experienced.

lol, very true! Is that something a dealer can do or is it something I could do? Also I have heard that people add a second battery, any thoughts on that? Thank you so much!

Get a manual battery disconnect switch. Wiring it in is too simple. If that is too much to do, just remove the positive battery cable from the battery while in storage.

Also you need to maintain your batteries. When I first got my mh I bought the qwik rite battery fill system. After I received it I added water to them. I could not believe how low they were.

People always complain that the stock batteries are garbage. They maybe but mine are almost two years old and doing just fine.

With the disconnect switch and properly maintaining the batteries they should last you a long time.

No, negative cable.

I agree negative cable. But this has always been a debatable topic

It's not a matter of one or the other (or both) as either one being disconnected will stop the flow of current from the battery; it's a matter of safety. Since the negative side is connected to the frame and most metal in a car or MH, if you put a wrench on the positive side and accidentally touch any surrounding metal you will get a big arc and current draw. This would only happen when disconnecting the negative side if you touched the positive terminal with the wrench.

Its more than that: If you disconnect the positive side, have it laying somewhere touching the frame and then plug in the coach, start the engine, or some other way of turning on the converter, alternator, etc. you've just shorted pos to ground.

Like i said its a debate that no one will agree upon. Negative or positive. Neither side will agree

That's the other side of the safety issue. Good point Jamie!

2017 Freedom Elite 29fe house battery keeps dying

If it’s set to “Store” mine does not charge the house batteries when docked. If I turn off store when docked it always keeps them charged. In case you are keeping it docked when not in use....
