THOR #12286
Hello from Pigeon Forge, TN

We flew to Alvarado Texas to purchase our first RV, a 2018 Thor Miramar 34.2

The trip didn't go quiet as expected. On the drive back to East TN, we discovered a water leak in the coach. After a while, we turned off the water pump and the leak slowed and eventually stopped.

With the water leak, the coach sat for approx. 6 weeks and eventually got it in for warranty repairs. Since it is in the shop, I am having them install Roadmaster front and rear sway bars and the front Sumo Springs. The service manager called saying the rear Sumo Spring could not be installed as Thor had a brace located where the rear springs would be.

I hope to get the Miramar back soon and start playing with my new toy.

Call Thor and find if that's true.

First of all Congratulations on a beautiful coach ! And Welcome !
Check with etailer.com give them a call and give them your vin # make, model year, as I think I read a review on there that someone had gotten Sumo Springs and had to buy another set because of a Thor chassis having something different, even though it was for the correct stock# for that year F-53 chassis.
Poor guy ended up having to buy another set, as he butchered the other ones trying to make it work.
Orrrrr you could hold off on the rear Sumos, and try the, CHEAP HANDLING FIX on the, rear. If that don't prove satisfactory, then go with the correct Rear Sumos, and maybe a Steering Stabilizer.

Personally I'd do the CHF no matter. We did it on our 34.2 and added the Safe-T stabilizer on the front and it worked so well we didn't go for the Sumos. Just sayin''.

[emoji106] think that's the route I'm taking, after the Alignment, when I get those things done, it will drive great, and be Safer !

Welcome to the forum and congratulations. The Miramar has an awesome floor plan.

I've only been to Pigeon Forge once so far, but I will be going back for sure.
What a beautiful area.

On the water leak.......

Right after we got our unit, we had a leak when running the water pump.

My issue was a loose connection right by the water pump. If I remember right, I think it was the plug that they remove to winterize the unit.

It was a simple half-turn with a wrench & the leak went away.

Safe travels!

Welcome to the forum! That is one VERY nice-looking rig!
I'm sorry to hear that the shakedown cruise didn't go as smoothly as it should have; but it WILL get better!

Congrats and welcome to the forum! I would second the recommendation to do the CHF and see if that is all you need. We did the CHF and came to the conclusion nothing else was needed.

That is a very nice looking coach! Hope you can enjoy it soon.

Congratulations on your beautiful new coach and welcome to the forum!!!

CHF is easy to do, doesn’t take long, and requires no special tools. CHF makes a HUGE difference in the handling!!!

Hope you have lots of FUN!!!

Thank you all for the warm welcome and the tips on how to make my MH even better.

I stopped by the RV dealership and talked with the service manager on my way home from work. They identified the water leak as coming from the washing machine hot water line but it hasn't been fixed yet. He explained his plan to modify the support so he can install the rear Sumo Springs but we have to wait a year until the Thor warranty has expired. We had a cracked mirror also and the replacement received from Thor was also cracked. More delays.

They promised they would have it ready to go by the end of July. That will give me the opportunity to stay a couple of nights at a Clabough's RV Park here in Pigeon Forge and just a mile or so from the house. When I find I forgot something, I won't have to go far to fix. Then we head out on August 4th to take our granddaughter to Pirateland near Myrtle Beach, SC. I guess this will be the real break-in cruise.

I am learning more and more as I read through the threads on this site. This will be a great resource.
