Hello from Rhode Island

We are thinking of purchasing a Hurricane 29M but the problem is there's nothing around to look at.

From what we can see the 29M does not have a great deal of outside storage. I'm not sure whether there is a compartment that would hold our 2 regular folding chairs.

We spoke with a salesperson at a dealership yesterday about a Hurricane 32N which also has a full slide. We wanted to see what that looked like closed. The passageway did not seem restrictive when it was closed.

We wanted to see how the 3Trax system worked on the full slide model.
The salesperson told us that the pop-out on Thor RVs can not be operated while the vehicle is running, unlike most other products. I thought they could all be operated when the motor was running.

Has anyone seen a Hurricane/ Windsport first hand?

There are owners of both on the forum and they can provide specifics.

Neither slides nor awnings should operate with the ignition switch on or the engine running. This is a safety feature to prevent them from extending while driving.

On my prior class C my awning extended while driving 55 MPH on I 95. Believe me when I say it is not a load of fun. The problem was the manufacture's installation instructions were wrong which caused the RV manufacture's to unknowingly bypass that safety feature. Dometic issued a recall but Forest River did not know which units had the problem and didn't notify owners.

Prior to buying the Challenger we walked away from the Hurricane because it did not pass my wife's crock pot test. The crock would not fit in the refrigerator.

Thanks for the information. The safety feature makes a lot of sense to me. I can't imagine an awning opening up on I95!

I'll have my wife check the crock pot.
Thanks again

Walk through videos

Dealers are posting walk-through videos of the newer models. A quick search found Total Value RV has a 20 minute video. There are other, shorter ones, too.
