Talking Looking at Freedom Elite 24fe

Hello from Montana!
We're looking at a Freedom Elite 24fe
I know these are similar to Four Winds and marketed by Camping World. Not a lot out there on these and want to hear from the real experts. We're looking to downsize from our full size motorhome...and these caught our eye.

-Has anyone had issues with handling? I hear so many comments about adding stabilizers to many of the Thor units, that I'm starting to worry. Our big older unit had to have a Safety Steering arm put on, to stay on the road. This is a much smaller Mercedes Sprinter chassis. We had hopes it handled better.
-What is the roof material? TPO or Fiberglass?
-Any out the door issues with the Mercedes side of this?

Thanks for any info or links. I tried searching, but couldn't find much for this coach

Welcome, you've come to the right place.

Regarding stabilizers and other suspension upgrades a few thoughts:
  • Wait until you drive it before adding things (other than an alignment, but I think the Mercedes chassis is better in that regard)
  • The vast majority of people don't do anything to the suspension (remember there are a lot more Thor owners out "in the wild" than represented here)
  • Many, many forum members love to tinker, modify, upgrade, etc.
  • Another option would be the Citation Sprinter 24SS--that would at least get you away from Camping World

Welcome to our end of the Kiddie Pool!
I agree with what Jamie said: let your own experience with your new rig determine what it needs.

We have a Four Winds 24F with a Chevy chassis. I do all the driving, and have driven just about anything you have seen on road. I have been pleasantly surprised with the ride and handling of our's. I cannot speak to the Ford version, but our Chevy model is great.

We bought one yesterday. I haven’t picked it up yet. The roof is TPO. I have talked to several people who have rigs built on the Sprinter chassis and they all seem well satisfied.
