New Hurricane 29M

We picked up our new Hurricane last week. We took the coach on a 100 mile road test and had a few minor issues addressed by the dealer before we left. The dealer is located 300 miles from home, so we had a pretty good shake down run. We really like the motorhome.

Did notice that the overhead bunk creeps down an inch or two, mostly on the driver side, sometimes resting on the safety pin.

My wife and I have been RVing for over 30 years and this is our first motorhome!

Welcome and congrats! On the bunk issue, I always lower my bunk on the pins. Keeps the pins in place and doesn’t misalign the rails. Hope this helps. Jerry

Welcome to our gang of Merry Travelers!
With over 30 years' worth of RVing: your experience will be quite valuable in here!
Since this is your first motorhome: what other rigs did you have along the way? What guided this purchase decision into the motorhome side of the sport?

Welcome to the forum and the world of motor homes. We picked up our Hurricane 29M last November and we love it. And yes, our overhead bed settles on to the safety pins while we’re driving. Apparently it is considered not to be a problem. Tom

Welcome.

Just picked up our 29M about three weeks ago and had our first (shake-down) trip last weekend. So I'm in about the same boat as you.

This site has been a great help!

Couple of easy and cheap mods you might want to look at:
- battery fill pump kit
- battery shut off switch

I also have a number of minor warranty issues to address. Guess that's part of a new rig.

Good luck and enjoy.

Congrats on the new 29M...we have one & love ours too.

Make sure to check out Jerry's Hurricane Mods....lots of great ideas and info there for 29M models.

That thread has gotten quite large, but you can use the Forum's search feature and you can even use Google to help zero in one the topics you're looking for.

I wish you many happy miles of travel.

Thanks for the tips and helpful info!
We had 3 travel trailers and 2 fifth wheels before switching to a motorhome. With the motorhome we hope to enjoy the trip as much as the destination. Looking forward stops along the road that were not so easy when towing a big fifth wheel.

Congrats and welcome to the forum! We love our Hurricane as well, there is nothing like being able to pull over anywhere and not have to get out in a driving rainstorm!

That's a REALLY good reason for making the switch...
When we were shopping for our rig: we had originally planned to tow a trailer for our Spyder. It didn't take too long, before we figured out that a Toy-hauler would make for a much shorter setup!

Congratulations and welcome to the forum!!! We’ve had our 29 for two years now and love it! Go to the Modifications section and look at the GREAT thread called Jerry’s Hurricane mods, (same coach) and there are over 160 pages of ideas and mods to make your coach even better! Warning: reading this thread can be very hurtful to your wallet!!!

The overhead bed creeping down on to the pins is normal, that’s why the pins are necessary. The ladder storage under the bed is a PIA, I lay the ladder under the bunk mattress with the hooks pointing up at the end of the mattress.

Hope you have lots of FUN!!!

Does the overhead bunk rattle or squeak when it settles on the safety pins?
