New to Forum

Hi all,

After years of PUPs, we bought a 2015 Thor ACE 29.2 last summer. After several shakedowns, it appeared that we had worked the bugs out. Then we fried several items after our contractor wired the outlet on our new garage with 240v instead of 120v. He's a stand-up guy, and is footing the bill for all repairs. Lesson learned there is to always carry a voltmeter in the cab.
I've joined this forum to keep an eye out for any known issues, as well as for potential mods, upgrades et al that may make our camping experience more enjoyable.

Welcome. Wow that is a pretty wild experience there.
Hopefully everything gets fixed properly.

That is why I just use an adapter and plug into the 110v socket.

Welcome to the forum.

A quick tester is a 30 to 110 adapter with a circuit tester plugged into the 110 side.

Coleman Cable 30A to 15A Straight Adapter

Prime Products AC Circuit Tester

This will show you if the outlet is wire correctly and if you have more than one hot lead.

Happy RV'ing,

Bruce

Bought a Vegas last April. We still have a 2006 Coleman Niagra. Love the Vegas and have already taken many trips in it.

Welcome aboard! I too gravitated from PopUp camping, and into my motorhome.

I still have the 2004 GTE Niagara, (but looking for a buyer).

That seems to be a common mistake. The 30A connector used on a RV looks a lot like an electric oven/dryer connector, which is 240VAC.
