Thor Ace 30.4 Quality

Does anyone feel that these coaches are the worst quality and design choices ever? We are trying to go viral with the horrible crap we just paid $80+k for.

AC simply is the worst ever. Let’s ignore the page of other crap issues for now. We are new snowbirds from the north. Our entire next 6 months has been ruined by the fact that our dog will die if we leave him in this coach for more than an hour. 88 outside. 19% humidity. 5 hours runtime.

Coach is still over 80. This is the case every single day unless we are in an area that drops to 50s at night.

This has to be the worst built coach on the road.

Please people make Thor fix your coach or tell the world to stop buying period.

Been traveling in Florida for the last month in the high 90S with no issue keeping the coach at 78 degrees all day. Have one 15k btu ac coach is 29 feet long. I do keep a silver reflective cover on inside of windshield and curtains closed where the sun comes in. Have had no major issue with coach and a couple of minor ones. Love the Thor coach

How many AC's do you have. If you only have 1 that is why you have the issues your dealing with. Most people that have 25 foot coaches or bigger will opt for 2 AC's.

Dc and penguin, good points. Here is our perspective. If they sell a 30 foot coach with 1 AC and that AC does not cool the coach to a safe level that is simply unethical. Paying more for something to work properly and safely just does not seem right. It is like selling you a phone but if you want to make a call we need you to buy this upgrade....just not right. There is a list of things, literally a type written page of things, all directly related to quality, workmanship, and engineering that make this a bad product. If I did Business this way in my company I would never get work.

Update: we, before my original post, had sewn in reflective material to the entire front curtains, taped reflective material to the front lower passenger window and tape reflective material to the large window by the dinette on the sun side. That was BEFORE we posted the data earlier.

Later we will get to the MAIN breaker or the generator breaker tripping when we run just the AC and the microwave. Yes those two loads make the coach trip it main feeder breakers. The list goes on. Like, if you want to turn on the LED strip outside , after a 3 week punch list visit where they did not work st all, you have to turn the front cab bed switch to the ON position. The molding that is falling off, the shower doors that leak, the microwave that randomly actually cools food.

Just a waste of money is what is the end result here. These were supposed to be my golden blessed years for working so hard in the Navy and then after and this is the crap we get.

Just saddened.
The Chief

Consider Thor the worst quality I have encountered in a product or service. I have traded it in on a newmar and will tell all 300+ people I influence a year to buy a different product. What sealed the deal was trying to call customer care outside of normal working hours...you know the time we all use our RVs...

It is sad to hear, when someone posts having so many problems with a unit.
We all realize that the forum attracts people with problems.
We never hear from those thousands of happy campers who never experience a problem. We have, also, heard that most other brands have the same issues.

We are happy Thor Axis owners !

Good bye! Enjoy your Newmar. If you're not somewhat of a handy man (apparently not) they'll be reading your rants on their forum.

We have an 2016 ACE 29.4 that we purchased new. I went through it and found a heater vent house wasn't connected and the baffle inside the AC that separates the sides had fallen down. I fix things myself and after fixing the baffle in the AC it runs much better. The motorhome isn't perfect but we really enjoy it. For the price, you get a lot of motorhome. I also did the AC modification listed on another post and put in an additional round vent in the cover. It really allows more cold air to dump straight out of the AC.

We have a Thor Windsport great MH nothing but great things with it only some minor problems like bad HDMI cable, driver side window leak, drive your S&B down the highway at 65 MPH and see what falls apart. Would have no problem buying another Thor that should be next yeaf

We just bought an Outlaw 29H...

And our "Oh Crap!" list is growing longer each day.
Some of the items are pretty minor
But some of them make you wonder what their PDI involved?
Two top choices right now:
1. It's a Toyhauler, so the back opens up. They had it open for the delivery, yet they seem to have missed the fact that one of the ramp handles had a bolt missing!
2. The driver and passenger seats are supposed to swivel inward to face the living area. They don't!
On a whim: I tried swiveling them outward... BINGO! They put the wrong seat mounting hardware under each side!

How could they miss this easy stuff?

That's what bothers me the most. I can deal with manufacturer making mistakes, stuff happens, but missing those mistakes during the PDI to me is inexcusable. AND especially after what the dealers charge for the pre delivery inspection. I was a Harley tech most of my life and if I delivered a bike with issues to a customer my employer would have told
me to find a different career. The dealer is the link between the customer and the manufacturer and I feel can make or break that relationship.

Yes, along with about 90% of all towables & motorhomes. You'd have a hard time finding a brand of any rv that Thor doesn't own.
