I doubt the presence or absence of the Cricket will change your mpg by any noticeable amount (speed, wind, grade will have a much larger affect).

That is in the range we usually get with our 24.1. How many miles on your coach? (If under 10,000 or so then you still have yet to get the 0.5mpg pick up or so as the engine wears in a little).

Also, will get a reading without Cricket this Christmas during our trip to DC to see grandkids.

That is pretty accurate ! We do the Colorado mountains and fight the constant crosswinds of western Kansas … our gas mileage is between 9 and 10 .. occasionally when traveling east on interstate we will get around 11, but not often. … that is with and without our 6x10 enclosed trailer.

In addition...running a/c or not has made a difference.

We check our mileage at each fillup...know what to expect...but do it anyway!

My 26 ft class C averaged about 8.6 mpg while my 29 ft class A (still under 5000 miles) seems to run about 7.8. I don’t check very often because it doesn’t really matter much to me and it’s not ever going to be very much different.

C'mon... I want the OP tell us his secret....

(I'll bet it involves throwing a rope around passing trucks, and hanging on real tight!

It is possible that they just never get on an interstate and that their coach never goes faster than about 55 mph (especially a new one with the 6 speed transmission).

If I had the luxury of time I might do that as well.

My very first tank of gas, March of this year, in the "new to me" 2015 Vegas 24/1 I got 11 MPH but that was running 50-55 MPH on the level land in the Coastal Plains of North Carolina. Have never gotten past 10.3 since then.

Most recent tank (today) showed 9.74 MPH but that also included 3 hours of running the generator going down the road.

We just returned from a trip up the Oregon and Washington coasts and around the Olympic Peninsula. Hiway 101 is very crooked, and we spent quite a bit of time on National Park roads which wind as well, and are sometimes slow speed.

I was very happy that I got 10.3 MPG. No toad, or genny. I think key is to stay about 60 or below.

I don’t have a Vegas but I’ve come to terms with my mileage. I seem to get between 7 & 8 mpg pretty much regardless. So I don’t check very often any more. It is what it is!

are you talking about my contribution Bob ? If so, … there was a time, when Ron drove 5 over whenever we hit the road...regardless of whether it was the car, motorcycle or RV …..now..in the last couple years he sets cruise at 55 and lets everyone pass him...rather relaxing...and yes, it does affect the mpg...not significantly … and when we get close to 11, very rarely, it is dumb luck. Ron does add Lucas to each tank, which he has done for many years. He sez..does it help mpg...probably not enough to claim...
Now that our 2016 has over 20k miles on it, it behaves like it is broken in.
I posted this fact once before...in Colorado, descending Wolf Creek Pass , elev.10850'...our first summer with this motorhome, we averaged a whopping 14mpg for about 5 minutes !! ha !!

In the high desert at 4k alt. and above out west during the winter months, I have gotten in excess of 11mpg, but only on one or two tank fill ups. And that was heading east with most likely a westerly tail wind.

Grand Teton Trip

FYI. Took our 2016 Axis north on the I15 to Jackson, WY from SoCal. Generator was running for most of the first day to Utah. Kept speeds a bit lower, no more than 65 and on the steep grades the RPMs a bit below 3000. Just over 10,000 on the odometer. Looks like we averaged 10.13 MPG.

Well... maybe we should start a new thread on getting the worst gas milage.
Thor Vegas 24.1 heading West in Kansas towing a subaru on my 18 ft flat bed metal trailer with 4 bikes, RV full of junk 75-80mph with a 10-15 mph head/cross wind = 5.6 mpg. I think i could actually see the gas meter moving down....

Someone asked about higher octane. A high octane fuel such as premium (91 to 93) will provide more power but yield less mpg. Lower octane such as 85 will yield slightly higher mpg with less power.

Axis 25.6 mpg

I have a 2020 axis 25.6 with the V10 engine and I have never seen over 7 miles per gallon. That's without a Toad and never driving over 63 miles per hour. It now has 6500 miles on it and the mpg hasn't changed.

It’s a bit on the low side, maybe, but not out of the realm of possibility. I’ve had 4 gas RVs and all of them have averaged between 6.5 and 7.5 mpg. I’m always amazed how many people report better but I just haven’t seen it.

That’s odd
I nearly always get 10+ mpg in my 24.1, even when pulling my Toad.
I try to keep my speed at 60.

Btw...I rarely use “tow haul” or transmission braking which tends to rev the engine.

Like Texas...t’s pretty flat out here in the west

Not to beat a dead horse...

I’m not counting generator use

I’m saying, I drive 250 miles straight without using generator, and I stop for gas.
Generally 25 gal or less.

That’s my story & I'm stickin’ to it

Our 2013 A.C.E. 29.2 with the V10 never disappoints with somewhere between 6 and 9 mpg. In the mountain west we always see the former, the latter is while driving the flat coastal plains along the Gulf Coast. My preference is to drive without cruise control and keep speed under 65 mph.
