2013 Thor Windsport slide noise
Hello, I am still trying to find out if there is actually any slides out there that do not make any noise when you extend or retract them? Also, are there any slides that do not make any noise when you are going down the road? My main slide is so noisy and annoying and distracting when going down the road also when we operate it in or out, it creaks and growns and we wonder each time if this is going to be its last time. Sure would like some comments please.

I don't have a MH, but the slide on ours does and always has made noise going in and out. Plus I feel sure if I was riding back there when we were going down the road it would make noise then also.
The interior of a MH is notoriously noisy. I've owned three, and they all had more noises when going down the road then I liked to hear.

2013 Thor Windsport slide noise
Thanks Lloyd for the come back. That is so true about motor homes being noisy going down the road. That is just a lot of stuff be propelled down the road. We just never imagined a slide could be that noisy and really don't think it should be.

WE have a 2014 Thor Ace and we get absolutely no noise from the slide going down the road or opening or closing it. We get some window rattle occasionally and a creak from somewhere in the back of the RV but nothing that we can't stand.

2013 Thor Windsport slide noise
now this is what I was expecting. I don't think there should be any noise from the slide going down the road either putting it in or out. It should be a silent operation otherwise, I think there is something wrong with it.

Now I think it might be in the interpretation from one person or the other as to what might be classified as noise.
There is always going to be some noise when the slide goes in and out.
Those motors, gears, and mechanisms are not silent.

Lloyd, you are correct about noise interpretation. The noise I am talking about is squeaking, creaking, popping, and rattling noises. Not noises a noisy motor would make.

Lloyd was there not a thread here a while back, where some of these units slide motors were not strong enough, and Thor replaced them with a larger capacity motors

That is true, but if the motors are not strong enough to bring it in all the way even a 1/8th inch would give a lot of clearance to make noise

deryld,
I took my MH to the dealer for the exact noise issue you describe. (Master bedroom slide). When I picked it up 3 days ago, the service manager told me that it took a LOT of lubing all rollers, guides, tracks, etc. Two treatments on all the seals. The noise proplem is fixed, however, he did say there was a similar unit with a like slide that all the lubrication DID NOT work on and has Thor sending a representative out to the dealership to hopefully resolve the issue. He told me I wouldn't be forgotten if Thor deems a recall on the issue. Hope this helps.
