2015 Axis 24-2

Looking at this RUV but have a question: The brochure describes the sofa as an air bed. What exactly is the air bed and is it truly queen size?

Air bed means that after the sofa is opened there is an inflatable air mattress for the sofa. My overhead bunk also uses an inflatable mattress.

You will need to get the measurements to determine if it is a true queen. For normal beds an RV queen is smaller than a standard queen you would use in your house.

Do you mean 25.2 or 24.1 (only two Axis floorplans with a sofabed).

The 24.1 comes with a self-inflating air mattress that you lay on top of the frame that unfolds from the sofa. You can't use it without the air mattress (or get some other form of mattress but you'd be hard pressed to store it). I believe the included air mattress is just a standard coleman equivalent one. I can't go measure mine as I'm 1200 miles away from it at the moment (and at least 60 degrees warmer ).

Welcome to the forum!

Typically, "Queen" in an RV is 5" shorter than a standard queen. Thor replaced the air beds in the Axis/Vegas with a mattress for 2016. The 2016 25.2 has a jack-knife style couch.

While you are shopping, check out the cost on a new 2016 versus the 2015 you are considering, either used or new. Pros and cons of a new rig have been discussed in other threads, as well as the improvements included in the 2016s, including a switch to the E-450 chassis.

Happy Hunting!

our 2016 Axis 24.1 has the air mattress for the hideabed couch...it is electric..have not used it..and probably will not. Our Axis has 2 twins/one King in the rear.
Be aware ... we had a hideabed sofa/couch in a previous motorhome for our bed...we replaced the original mattressi with a 3 foam mattress..it was ok but we never felt like we got it 'right' after spending $500 .. you might want to consider the 24.1 or 25.2 in the 2016 models with real beds. The improvements in the '16 models over the 2015/2014 models is worth buying new.
Google floorplans Axis motorhomes and take a look !

The 24.2 sofa folds out and has a queen size air mattress. We use a double air mattress instead. The outside 6-8" of the queen couldn't be used because it is unsupported so it's really just wasted isle space.

We just leave the arm rests in the garage attic ... they're just in the way anyhow!
