Age of RV travelers
I was wondering what the average age of people who own RV's on this forum? How many are retired and how many still work for a living.
I am 55 years old and my with is 53 years old. I am still employed by the State of California for 15 years now. I was a machinist for 24 years before I got the job at the State. My wife worked until we had our third child. She was a stay at home mom from there on out. All of our kids are gone from home now so it is just me and my wife. We are looking forward to seeing more of what other states have to offer and enjoying our time together. How about everyone else.

63 here... but still thinking like an eight year old!
The Missus is 58...
We own our own business, and are still putting in 50 hour weeks.

I am over 60, wife over 70. I retired at 59 so we can enjoy remaining years. Work was a challenge but also only a stepping stone. We are very fortunate.

I am 39 and very not retired, my wife is 37 and we have 9 children. We have owned our motorhome for almost 18 months and have racked up around 18k miles in that time.
First trip was to IA for a wedding and most recent was to ABQ for balloon fiesta. We would not and could not afford to travel any other way.

YOu have forced me to ask this...
Where do you put all of the kids; when it's bedtime?
Are they in a line of pup-tents outside?

So the oldest is 10. We put the three oldest boys 10, 8 and 6 in drop down queen bed. Girls 9, 7 and 4 sleep on queen fold out sofa. 3 and two year old sleep on dinette and 1 uear old sleeps with us. We still have the bunk beds open for future growth.

How do you like the Thor 34J? What part of Cali are you located in? Since you are still employed do they give you time off to travel. There are a lot of places to go that does not cost a dime to stay at.

We really like the 34j since owning we have had slide issues, rear motor replaced twice, front motor once along with tracks. Most recent repair was in July but we have not had issues since. Knock on wood. Disconnect switch went out, steps motor had to be replaced but we understand broken parts cone with the territory.
Best part about the 34j is that when the slide was non operable we still could access everything comfortably and managed to take a 6k trip without a slide. Other floor plans with bunks would have made that a challenge.
Plan is to keep the coach a few more years before getting a DP.
As for work, I work from home so I usually do not take days off to travel.

A young 67 here and retired from my own business at 60. Wife is 35...(well, she looks like that to me). She will retire in January...then we're retiring to our beach home in PCB. We're about 90% moved there already. Next order of business...taming the Wild, Wild West. Gonna travel extensively in all the remote places we can find. One reason why we bought such a big MH...we can hide for days off grid.

We are both in our 60s now, we retired in our 50s. Travel about 5 or 6 thousand miles a year.

We must be the old couple. I'm 81 and the wife is just turned 80 in August We are on our third RV with some 288,000 miles in a RV in North America. I retired the first time in 1990 and again in 2001. We live in a retirement village with 78 RV parking spots (50 amp electric). We plan to keep on the road until my eye sight goes (so far the intraocular lens implants are working fine).

How old am I?
Let me think about that for a minute......
See that stuff stuck in your tire treads after you leave an unpaved site? My memory isn't what it used to be - what's that stuff called again?
Dirt. Yeah, dirt.
I invented that.

We bought our first MH when I was 38, and had 3 kids 9-13. Now they are 31-35. The wife and I seemed to be youngsters in our class A then. Now, it seems that RVers are getting younger every year. Oh wait.... After 3 MH's, I wouldn't give up a trip that we have taken. The memories are worth way more than the money we've spent. Oh yeah, they still go with us pretty often and the grand kids, too. More priceless memories!
