Air Conditioner

Good morning Thor owners,

This is Suzzanne again, 2016 Thor Tuscany XTE 40AX owner, my front AC was streaming water on the inside, to I called tech support, the rep informed me that the bolts on the inside vibrate loose and should be tightened up at least every 6 months, well I thought I had tightened them all up and last night water from the AC streamed from a different location, so I took off the cover where the filter is and tightened it up some more. Not sure this will work, time will tell. Could there be more than the loose bolts that may be causing the problem?

Our VEGAS streams some water from the AC since the day we bought it. I was told it was "normal". Sometimes it runs on the passenger side, sometimes on the driver's side, then sometimes both at once.

I understood that there was no drain pipe for condensation, at least on the VEGAS/AXIS. Or is this another newbie RVer mistake?

The water streaming from the roof of an RV is normal there are no drain lines on the RV if the water is coming in the unit from the AC than the ac unit generally needs to be tightened up

Had the same problem with our Tuscany. After I did the auto level I would go to manual and bump the front up a notch, water ran to the rear and off. Because of the size it's not practical to have a drain hose, it would plug up frequently and be very hard to unplug. Unfortunately just one of those things you have to live with. I tried several different solutions on our Tuscany, none really worked, so that's why I bumped up the front.

I just wanted to say thank you for the advice to bump the front up so the water run-off goes to the back. We did it and it works just like you said.

Since so many RVs use ducted A/Cs anyway, I don't see why manufacturers don't just switch to basement-mounted central units and eliminate a bunch of these problems in the process.

It may add a bit of cost, but would be worth every penny if they do it right. Fewer ceiling leaks, no condensate off roof, lower noise, lower aero drag, lower CG, etc.

Winnebago and a couple of others have tried without much success. Everyone continues to use roof mount since they don't want to take up valuable space below.

I believe the basement AC's Winnebago used, were very difficult to work on because of access, plus the folks we know that had one, said it was very noisy and created vibrations in the bedroom floor, enough to keep them awake at night. Some of the new roof mounted AC's are very quiet, however not the one in our Gemini. I have to admit I am disappointed in the noise level of the dometic AC/HeatPump in ours.
