Looking at Thor Axis 27.1. Noticed while test driving there was a lot of noise coming from slide out behind drivers seat. Is this something anyone is familiar with?

Obviously, there shouldn't be a "lot of noise".... Check it thoroughly to see if there is something stuck underneath. If not, have it looked at professionally before even thinking of buying. If not, forget this one.

Do you mean the 27.7? (There is no 27.1 floorplan, just 24.1 and 27.7--both of which have a slide behind the drivers seat.)

What kind of noise? A rattle like something is loose? or road noise like it isn't sealed up?

Check in the cabinets that are part of the slide. I have items in there lose that sounded like the slide was falling off.

Hello melgharst. Is this your first MH purchase? I ask as most entry level and lower priced coaches even brandy new ones do have various squeaks and rattles as that is the nature of the beast. Put a house on a truck drive it around, bounce it side to side, up and down and it will make noise.

My ACE still makes a noise (wind) when I do not have the drivers window in just the right location. The rubber gasket on the slide maybe not snug causing the noise. But as MJC62 said its a house on a frame lots and lots of stuff will make a sound you are not used to.

MHO: The slides should snug up pretty tight with motors locking in place and not make any motion noises. The creaking you hear (somewhat normal) could be coming from lots of areas and just sounds like it's that area, but the noises shouldn't be too bad. If you could define the noises a bit more in detail, it would help. The best medicine for noises is have someone walk around back there while rolling along, trying to hone in on the specific area.
