Beach Camping

We're heading down through Texas this year, and will be stopping at Sea Rim state park.
Has any one here ever camped out on the beach with an rv ? ( 35 Windsport )
I'm planning on driving the car out there first, to check things out.
The people at the park, say it shouldn't be a problem ??
Pretty sure it will depend on the weather too, looks like it could be fun, or really expensive, lol. ( I.E. Towing )

Good luck!
If it were me: I'd stay off the beach. Once you get stuck (and you will!): getting unstuck is an expensive pain in the hiney!

Go to Google Earth and take a look. Street View lets you look right on the beach. Looks fairly solid but narrow, flat beach could cause problems at high tide. Beach camping may sound fun, but strong winds can sandblast you and your rig.

I wouldn't take a motor home on any kind of sand. One thing to consider on the beach is the salt in the air. Also, the sea breezes are stronger at the beach. We always wash our coach as well as possible after being near the beach. I always smile when it rains on our way home from being near the beach!

We're going to check it out first, for sure. Just looked like a cool experience for a couple nights.
Thanks.

Do the beach from a campground. There is way too much salt in the air and sand...it will destroy your coach and underside. The "film" in the air totally coats everything and you'll start seeing rust on bolts, screws and everything that's metal...even stainless steel!! Not to mention the sand you will have to learn to live with, as you will NEVER get it all out.

They say that Beach sand is worse than the hair coming off of a shedding Pug...

But when do they EVER stop shedding?

I have spent 40 years driving on the beaches in Florida, mostly in a 4x4 truck with 15 psi in the tires. And I have seen a lot of vehicles stuck on the beach mostly because those vehicles should not have been there in the 1st place. The front end of your motor home will more than likely sink into the sand. Then you are done. Be smart and let others try. If you do, please take video of the redneck trying to snatch you out.
Best of luck seriously.

A YouTube search on "Pismo Beach" will break you from ever thinking about RV's on the beach. There are a few hard packed beaches around...but the sand and salt are consistent.

Well, we made it to the beach

Parked out on the beach at Searim State Park in Texas.
Was a unique experience and had no problems at all. ( except for the mosquitos).
Back on the road after a good wash.
