Bedroom slide malfunction
We drove 9 hours from our home in TN to the one we are hoping to close on in IL, only to find our bed wouldn't slide out come bedtime. Like the overhead bunk, it seemed to be binding up on one side. We took it finally to the local repair shop that we hadn't been happy with back in our pop-up days, but decided to give them another chance. Turns out they have an awesome 'motorized slide guy' who was for us a well-spring of information.
The problem is either a bad wire, or a faulty slide motor on one side... but... that's not my reason for posting.
Young Chris, our whizbang technician, taught us how to bypass the conventional, push the button in, way of sliding the bed in and out, and override it, allowing for us to manually slide and retract the slides, bunks and Awning in case of problems with them. I am pretty positive that Camping World never showed us this ability. So while our bed's slide would not come out, acting like it was binding up on something, by pressing the override button and getting into the coach within 60 Seconds, and then pushing the button for the slide, we were able to extend the bed all the way out or retract it all the way in just like normal. Chris did warn us however, that while in that override mode there is no safety stop in the case that we stupidly were to extend our slide into a tree. What a great thing to know in case of emergencies.
Another thing Chris showed us is a wonderful app called My LCI, which has a bunch of information on troubleshooting for RVs. This app also shows the exact location of that little override button that Chris gave us the rundown on. The My LCI app does not download PDFs to your device but rather just shows them on screen. It's a great addition to the collection of apps for all rvers. Give it a try!
As for our initial problems, we will find out on Tuesday if it was the wire or the little motor.
