Bike cover that won’t melt?

We’ve got e-bikes mounted on back of our Venetian with a tray style rack. The heat from the diesel has melted the fenders. Does anyone know of a good cover that hold up to engine heat and wind?

Thanks much!!!

How about adding some exhaust tip extensions, that direct the gases downward?

Will look into that, thanks! Still interested in a cover. We drove through pretty intense dust storm in UT last weeek and it really made a mess of things.

good advice Bob. You can take it to almost any muffler shop and they should be able to reroute the heat away from your bikes.

I figured that it's probably easier to redirect the heat; than buy a cover to resist it...

Good luck!

Swagman probably makes best bike cover suitable for use behind an RV (not car.) Doubt it - or any bike cover - would handle exhaust heat but ours is over 4 years old and close to 75k miles of use and still serviceable. Avail Amazon and about half price on Ebay.

Thx. Will look up. Problem seems to be more about diesel radiator heat vs exhaust pipe heat. Lots of bikes on the backs of pushers...they don’t seem to have melted fenders

Can you mount the bikes further to the rear of your rack?
Perhaps you could put some sort of shielding between them; and the vents on the rear of your rig...

Yup. Tried the back tray and that’s where it melted. We’ve been advised to not shield or divert heat from radiator.
Thx.

I wonder if you used one of those thin thermal blanket (the small ones you see folded up for emergences) and cover the back side of bikes (Or just wraped the fenders?). These blankets are like mylar sheets (look like paper thin aluminum). Perhaps that would reflect the heat away? Or buld some sort of "bulkhead" with thin aluminum panel behind the bikes (between bikes and RV)? Or cover plastic with some dynomat and fit behind bikes?

Just some Ideas.

OR use HD tinfoil and wrap fenders (and other heat sensive parts) each time you haul them? They would keep themselves in place or you can duct tape them? You can reuse the tinfoil some but if not I bet the roll would last you several trips for like $3.00 cost?
