Camp Ground etiquette

Just had to post this question to all me fellow Thor owners. We are camping at a older campground in Ohio. Its very tight, we are very close together. We have a steady stream of campers that walk through our site some are even riding the campground rental bikes (4 wheel models) through our site. Some walked under our awnings. We have moved the picnic table, cars and even put out chairs to discourage this. Most people walk around them or move our chairs out of the way. We have ask them not to do it, even talked with staff. I have though about putting up a rope between our camper and our neighbor camper (my cousin).
Any thoughts?

Remove yourself from the annoyance. You can’t teach manners to pigs.

Well my wife would had tried to prevented me from going full on Red Forman, I am the guy that does that when the neighbors Park in front of our house yet they have a 3 car garage and 4 car driveway. That’s really messed up and the best advice I have is if the campground doesn’t care then never stop back there again and if they ask for a review be honest about your experience

Get some "Police Line do not cross" tape and put that up, and put a white chalk outline somewhere on site (With a sign: This what happened to the last person walking through the site!)

Yeah... cutting across somebody else's site is about like climbing up onto somebody else's motorcycle without permission...

We sometimes go to a place in N Texas that is so crowded it's like living in a refugee camp. It takes some patience to last through the weekend. But as Forest Gump said, stupid is as stupid does.

I aerial view everywhere we go and the first qualification is...stay away from "row housing" campgrounds...I gotta have my space. You are what you eat...if you go to those places be ready for what is expected. If that doesn't work, take a crap at the front and back of your camper, on the ground, just between you and your neighbor. When they step in it...you will have something to laugh about. Laughter is the best medicine!! This would probably be acceptable at those type campgrounds.

My Dad taught me to treat someone's camping space as you would their living room...never walk through it. With that said, he also taught me you get more flies with honey than vinegar so try to kill them with kindness. There is more of them than there is of you and often they can stay up later, so never go to war with neighbors. Stay at county campgrounds whenever possible...more space and less people. Expect the rude on weekends and holidays so if you camp at those times don't be surprised by what you get.

That is the list of camping "rules" my Dad taught me. That was 50 years ago and not much has changed today.

What THE GRITZ said is a great idea, aerial view. We do everything to avoid commercial campgrounds because they are more likely to be "tight". Peace!

True...although people (mostly the younger and millennial) have become so much more of the "entitle minded" and think they can do whatever they want with no consequence. Their parents have reassured them of this...and kindness only rewards them of this bad behavior. Campers have preferences...some like to stay near bath houses, others near playgrounds and some near the office/store for better wifi or the front row of the beach access. When selecting your site, study these things and stay away from the "ant paths" that lead to them. If a campground will not let me reserve by specific site...I don't go there.

"ant paths..."

That's the best description that I've ever heard for them!

We could go off the deep end about the lack of common courtesy in our society. Summer weekends are the worst for this type of annoyance in campgrounds. We sometimes stay at K O A, and find them to be especially overrun with unsupervised kids. When we are traveling without kids, we try to go elsewhere.

Equally annoying is the neighbor's campfire that smokes you out, or the party n the next site that just won't quit. Sometimes you have to just grin and bear it, and be thankful that those inconsiderate people don't live next to your house! In a few days, they or you will be down the road.

When you are near popular areas, you'll find most of the campgrounds crowd you in pretty close. We have found that campgrounds that don't have pools generally have fewer kids.

I've got the perfect solution for the late-night partiers:
Early morning garbage can drum practice!

For those "I must have a Cosmic Campfire" regardless of which direction the wind is blowing...carry a fan and plug it in outside...tell them you feel guilty breathing up all of their smoke all by yourself.

We returned a few weeks ago from Pigeon Forge TN - Rivers Landing campground. While not the highest end campground, the owners are making huge improvements. New bath houses (I use my own but checked them out) each is a suite with tiled shower, sink and toilet. Very nice!

Etiquette is definitely on the decline in this country. Many unsupervised children at pool. Some VERY rude (teenagers), people with no respect for others. Shame. One woman walking her dog watches as the dog does his duty by our table. I am sitting there. She starts to walk away without picking up after her dog. When I politely ask if she is going to clean up after her dog - she gets nasty!

I will say the management is working at this location to improve the situation. They have cameras installed and while I was there they asked several campers to leave. They also told us they have a "do not rent to list" in the area that other campgrounds utilize so those people will not get in there also.

A leaf blower will also work: tell them that you're just cleaning up the debris around your campsite.
