Why do you think it would not be safe? That is the whole purpose of the generator.

The Thor handbook says not to do because of carbon monoxide could built up.....I think if I open the kitchen window it would be safe.....

As long as the exhaust is pointed down wind you won't have a problem. Many people run the generator when dry camping without any problems. Your coach should have a carbon monoxide detector that will warn you of any problems. Run your generator, that's what you have it for.

Wife can't handle heat well so when stopped for the night at WM or rest/truck stop we run the generator all night if necessary. Our ACE 30.1 works fine with the slides in for this kind of stop so have not had a problem with CO2 alarm going off. Now if we are somewhere the slides are out I always use the "Genturi" and once again no problems. Jim.

If it was me I would add a second detector in the sleeping areas before going to bed with a gas generator running. If diesel, maybe you could just trust the OEM your coach came with. Conditions, like wind could be favorable when you go to sleep but that may all change in the middle of the night. Or while driving during the day you could have hit some debris and developed a small exhaust leak in the generator, allowing it to enter the coach.

I have 2 CO2 monitors. I also use Venturi. And I open my cab overhead fan to pull air out of the coach.

I've run the generator all the time when boondocking. Just keep the windows closed.
