Can you get, "Too comfortable"?

We're in the midst of getting ready for a trip with the rig this weekend, and it all just seems to be going too smoothly.
Maps are up front; as is the reservation paperwork
Tires aired-up
oil checked up front
rig is on power, and the batteries look good
rig is cleaned
outside supplies are packed
clothes are packed
food is stored: the stuff needing refrigeration will be packed on Friday. when I transfer over to propane power for the 'Fridge.

Do you ever get complacent about this stuff?

Watch it Bob, Your going to Jink yourself.

Did you put Helium in your tires and the interior of the RV to lighten your load and to improve MPG? LOL.

Tools? I purchased duplicate tools when i purchased mine. I dont leave home without it.

Asking me about the tools I carry, is about like asking my dog about the tools I carry...
None of us is much use with them!

But I've got them along for the ride!
I'm actually only rated on two tools: WD-40, and Duct Tape.
If it moves; and it shouldn't: it gets some Duct Tape
If it doesn't move; but it should: that's for WD-40!

If you are worried about missing something: a step, some clothes, food, whatever. Simply make a checklist and stick to it.

The more you do it the more you get used to doing it--but I always forget one thing. Not sure why but I always do ! LOL

Keep the checklist by the steering wheel. Like a pilot

Like guns, motorcycles and women...the minute you think you're a pro at it...boom!! Stay nervous but enjoy the ride. Make lists...which I'm sure you do and have a list of your lists!! At 100 miles into your journey and you can relax!! If you forgot something by then, buy another one. If it's your wife you forgot...rent one...it's cheaper!!

I'm always making lists of things that I can't remember...

After all: the Memory is the second thing to do, and I've already forgotten what the first one was!

But now: I need lists of all of my lists!

Well to me tools are like this.... If I bring them I wont need them.

Plus even if I cant fix it myself perhaps someone can help me on the road but only IF I HAVE THE TOOLS.

Not to mention I will be kicking myself if: "I sure wish I would have brought along: larger philips head. ....or twist ties.....or 9/16 with 1/2 inch drive and 3 inch extention"

The list goes on. I have basic plumbing parts/tools/ hoses, 12 V wires, connectors and fuses, 120 V wires/connectors/mutli meter, assortment of nuts, bolts screws, clips etc.

Im an old boy scout.... so.....be prepared. My mom and day were the same way. He fixed everything 99% of the time. Didnt matter what it was he could fix it.

I am so envious. We too are heading out for the weekend and I have done nothing.

Daughter got married 2 weekends ago and this past weekend was spent moving her and granddaughter to their new house. All of my plans have gone kaput.

I was going to change the oil last night but the "Prez" was in Johnson City so I headed that way. Probably got within 8,000 people of getting in the door. Oil change now on tonight's agenda. Packing tomorrow and head out Thursday night.

I hope to one day get "too comfortable".

"the "Prez" was in Johnson City"

That would have been really cool to have been able to get it in.

Tools are always useful!

Before you leave, open the hood and visually check oil, trans fluid, power steering, brake fluid, windshield washer fluid and Anti freeze. While you're there, look at the battery posts. Then close the hood and make sure and lock the hinges in place. Check the tire pressure and make sure all the compartments are locked and don't open. Oh yeah, check your gas and the beer in the refer.

Yes, just as Cason mentioned. Check everything the morning you are leaving, especially tire pressure. I have had leprechauns sneak around letting air out of tires and other various pranks. They are sneaky little devils and can't be detected.

We do start with the "walk-around"; about ten days from any departure...

So Bob, you were the originator of this thread. How did your excursion go? I was waiting to see how the RV gods treated you and waiting to smile.

The last time we Rv'd was 30 years ago and we would go dune bugging at Glamis California, so I had extra everything, starter, tools, torches,. Between the group we could cut steel, weld steel, repair VW transmissions/motors. Now I don't know what to bring for tools, since we only have the MH to repair. I'll just take the basics as mentioned above and hope I have what I need

It's an age thing. I've done most repairs on everything I've ever owned...homes, appliances, cars...everything. I have a basement and garage full of most any type tool you can buy and two or three of some from the times I couldn't find them and bought anther. These days I carry a cloth tool bag (military surplus) with all the basic hand tools, tapes , sealers and wire ties. I also carry a pair of loppers for tree limbs at CG's. That's it. I'm tired of trying to fix everything and a motorhome does not allow the weight or space for much more. If you played your cards right in life, part of owning a motorhome is affording to pay someone else to do it and enjoy paying them...from the zero gravity chair with a nice cocktail in hand...not letting your "Mr. Fixit" ego ruin your attitude.

Thanks, I'm trying really hard not to do everything, it's a hard row to hoe when you are used to fixing everything. Having some tree work done.. I've only got 2 chains saws and a chain saw on a stick for trimming. This getting old isn't for sissies.
I was thinking of a tool bag with the basics volt ohm meter etc. and of course some duct tape
