Care free awning

I just took delivery of 2018 Windsport 29m which comes with a carefree awning that is supposed to automatically retract when windy. Does anyone have a link to a manual? I just don’t believe this works and am very nervous about waiting for that day to see if it really works.
Cheers!

Our 2016 Hurricane has a Carefree awning which does retract when it gets windy. Our model is the Carefree Latitude. Here is the link to the manual:

The Latitude uses a motion sensor; not a wind velocity sensor to signal when to retract. When it is extended if you take a small pole and wack it on the roller end cap twice in rapid succession, it will retract. It takes quite a bit of wind awning flap to get awning to retract.

True, it does take a lot of wind. I have tested ours by using a broom to bounce the edge of the awning when its open, & it will close. I have tried to leave it out with some wind, just to see, but so far I have always wound up closing it before it closed itself. Too afraid of damage!

Thanks

Thanks to both. I tried to do the thanks thing but it says I have to spread some thanks first....don’t understand that one.
Does your unit have 1 or 2 awning switches? One for power and one for in/out?
Mine just has one “in/out.
Thanks again

It has a single spring loaded rocker switch, top, I believe is out, bottom is in. No separate power switch.

Our awning just has one switch for in/out. The power switch next to it is for use/store mode for the 12V electrical system. The third switch is for the steps.

Ours definitely retracts when it gets enough gusts to move it around. We didn't know if ours had the auto-retract feature or not until one day it just rolled up by itself... and lo and behold it was a breezy day. I have also heard it retract in the middle of the night which actually gives me some peace of mind, knowing that it is relatively safe from unknown winds. We still manually retract it when storms are predicted, we don't want to tempt Mother Nature too many times.

I have the same coach. Didn't know that the awning had automatic wind retraction until a gust of wind came up. It closed! Tried it again at home by shaking the awning and it seems to work fine. Not sure I fully trust it, but good to know it works if I forget to close the awning.

We had a 2015 Windsport 31S with the carefree awning. IT WORKED! On a number of occasions it retracted perfectly during wind gusts. My personal opinion was that it retracted too soon under less stress than it could probably endure, but better safe than broken.
