Get ready

My wife and I are in! We are the oldest 40 year olds around- who is up for some shuffleboard, horseshoes and bocce ball! We have had the rig for only 2 weeks so we are looking forward to learning about the RV lifestyle and getting some tips. I will make the reservation today and will edit this to put in our site number- we won't be in until 8:30 or 9pm, so if any of you are awake we will meet then! Looking forward to meeting all of you!

P.S.- If anyone there are road cyclists we will be going out for rides Sat and Sunday A.M, PM me for more details or to hook up.

Sorry I won't be there... but my RV is... so I'm there in spirit. lol...
I'm still in MI for another 2 weeks - but DW will come by to say hi for me. We took the RV down a month ago - then I headed back north.
We've spent last 2 winters at Southern Palms.

Stavros is a great choice for dinner Fri - at peak season there can be quite a wait on Friday - but I expect should be much better now... We do take out from them more than sit down . Large portions... good food - and be sure you look at dessert case on your way in.

Restaurant Menu | MenuPix

If you want something different on Sat - 'The "DAM" BBQ' is close and good - eat in or take out... http://www.damsmokerbbq.com/ or
https://www.google.com/search?q=eust...+bbq+eustis+fl
Exit 'Pines' section onto CR44 turning right (toward 19/Publix).. Make first left (BEFORE you get to 19 - small side street - 19A)... It is on your left just as 19A meets 19. Less than a mile away..

Enjoy the warm weather... and I'll have to meet you all next time. Have a drink for me at happy hour!

LAST CALL! Not too late to join us! You all are welcome, this is a huge resort with plenty of space available.

Thanks, Greg, for the restaurant suggestions. We'll be walking to Stavros Friday evening, and maybe again Saturday (to be decided by group). The Dam Smoker is a great BBQ joint, a little ways up the road.

Some may not have a car, which is why I didn't mention the Dam Smoker before. We were at a similar area BBQ place last Friday evening, and found that the snowbirds haven't all arrived yet. Not too worried about a long wait if we go at 6 or before.

There is a big car show in Eustis on Saturday afternoon, and always lots of things to do in the nearby area. Southern Palms has a dance on Saturday evening. We will find time for an RV "show and tell" sometime over the weekend.

We will welcome your DW to our group, and miss having you join us. We won't be having a campfire, but we will be having extended happy hours!

Maybe we need a 'camperless' rally in MI... those in hibernation or already in other locations... lol (of course by then I'll probably be south...)

Awesome!!!!!!!!

Made it back home without any issues. What a weekend! Thank you to all who made the trip to the resort for the first of hopefully many get together's that we can have. We had a blast! Learned many new things and gathered new ideas for our coach from all who attended. Me Sunshine (Gerry) can't thank you enough.
I've been doing research on all of the ideas we picked up over the weekend. Need to spend judiciously as retirement sorta limits some of the toys/extras.
We are looking forward to the next time we can meet up with our new friends..

Even Libby. LOL!!!

Here's your report on our gathering: We had 8 Thor rigs, specifically 2 Four Winds, a Hurricane and 5 Vegas/Axis, all 25.2! We had 14 for a super Italian dinner Friday evening, and had carry-out BBQ on Saturday evening. The weather was ideal.

Mrs S and I really enjoyed the group. We all had some great conversations. Some of the stories had us roaring! Our show and tell session was great. We went from coach to coach and shared modifications and upgrades, everybody contributed. I know several folks are already shopping for some of the cool add-ons we were shown.

Not a promise, but might have a photo or two to share later. We were spread out too much to get a good photo of the rigs together, and I didn't take any photos of people since I didn't have permission.

Everybody said they had a great time, and want to get together again. I'll be working on our next central Florida outing for early April. I heard some great suggestions for locations. You all will get plenty of notice of the date and place.

Thanks for organizing Mr Sunshine... Hopefully next time I can be there along with my rig... lol... Would like to see the add ons others have done... Reading about them is nice - but seeing them is better.
Sounded like you had a great time. Glad DW was able to join you for dinner on Friday.
