When traveling from point A to B on long trips, I try to drive around 600 miles or a little more per day. Today was 583 due to severe winds around Amarillo. Smaller vehicle helps cover more distance with less work though.

Just curious to know how you guys approach your trips, especially if you have no time restraints.
My husband and I have decided ~300 miles per day would be our cut off. Depending on roads and traffic that can average about 5-7 hours in a day max. We want to enjoy our time

We are doing about 325 miles per day, on our way to Denver. I sometimes think I should keep going like the old days, but now I'm old and the days are young!!

Currently on a 4 month trip. We have a few extended stays in some spots (week or longer). Daily miles driven will vary between 420 and 230 for this trip. Generally what dictates the miles is our desire to stay at a specific CG or visit some particular site. I still only try to spend 7 hours or less on the road. If we need to make the 420 I will cut down on a couple stops and maybe drive 67 or 68 for some of it instead of 64 or 65.

Miles or Hours

We usually do about 400 miles per day but always plan our trips ahead of time for the next destination. Like to be done by 4:00 to 5:00 pm after a 9:00 +/- am start. Destination is our controlling factor.

Linda & I go on "body time." If we don't have a destination we just move on down the road until one of us has had enough. We eat, rest, sleep, walk the dogs, etc,. We go when the driver (me) awakens & is ready. Linda sleeps in & I leisurely make 4 hours or more before she gets up. We're retired too & try not to have too much "have-to-dos" on our list. She picks out the sights & I get us there. Try "body time."[emoji106][emoji631]

Looks like a perfect place to stop. Where is this site?
