degree of wheel turn.

does anyone know the degree of wheel turn for the Vegas/Axis? I believe they are all on the same chassis.

Yes they are all on Ford E-Series (E-350 or E-450 depending on year and floorplan) chassis.

Technically isn't that 360 degrees? Wouldn't get to far if it wasn't?? LOL

As far as max steering angle..don't know; I don't even think they mention that in their specs.

You could probably figure it out given the turning radius and wheelbase.

So what steering angle gives you a 24.3' turning radius when the wheelbase is 138"?

Using the formula found here I would calculate the angle as: 28 degrees (Sin-1(wb/tcr)).

Chance will pop in here with the correct answer down to a tenth of a degree. He knows this kind of stuff!!

You also could just measure it: pull the RV up straight, make a chalk line on the ground, turn the wheel to lock, make another chalk line, drive the RV away and measure the angle.

I used some geometry and the law of cosines to derive an "estimate" of the radius of curvature as a function of the steering wheel angle and wheel base. s = wheel base a = steering wheel angle n = steering ratio (e.g. for 16:1, n = 16) r = radius of curvature, in the same units as the wheel base So: r = s / (sqrt(2 - 2 * cos(2*a/n)) For an angle of zero degrees, the radius of curvature is infinite, which is expected. There would be a maximum value for "a" and thus a minimum value for "r", which would be equal to the turn radius.
