Dry Camping

Has anyone had a problem spilling of 25 gallons by a syphon from the time of arrival at the campsite. I have to haul a full tank to camping and after I arrive I'm usually down 25 gal. Is there an easy fix? I have a 2019 37.1 Miramar Bunkhouse.

Some RVs do that and it’s absurd! My Winnebago used to do it sometimes but I was able to modify the vent so that it wouldn’t. You can google a number of ways to do it. Here’s the one I used:Click image for larger version

Are you talking the overflow? Put a valve in the overflow line. Just don’t ever forget to open it when you fill it. Don’t get why 25 gallons though. Something else your referring?

I thought that "dry camping" just meant that you don't get wet...
I don't have a solution for you, but "Welcome to the forum"!

My previous Open Range did this...lost nearly 20% of the water underway if tank was full. Lots of trailers do, as water tank is mounted lower under frame, but haven't heard of many MH's having same problem. May be because tanks are generally mounted higher and suspensions are generally smoother than the basic springs and no shocks of trailers, not sure. As stated, if you can find the overflow and cap it, or install a 90 degree valve, it may help. Just put a sticker next to your pump switch reminding you it's closed as it my also serve as the release vent when operating.

I think that happens from overfilling. If you overfill the tank so that it comes out of the vent while filling, just drain a bit out of the tank.... just enough so that there's an air space in the top of the tank.

I have a black tank and a grey tank. I parked the unit at my son's house and stayed in it for 2 days. Both me and the wife took showers, used the bathroom, washed a couple of dishes. The black tank filled up, but the grey did not. If you have both, isn't the water from the toilet only supposed to go into the black tank and the shower and sink water into the grey tank....

Some coaches are that way (my Winnebago for example) but many these days put the shower and bathroom sink into the black tank. I think they do that to increase the amount of water in the black tank (duh!) to help it drain better. I’d bet it’s also because its simpler and cheaper to build them that way.

The shower in my Outlaw dumped into the gray tank; while the bathroom sink emptied into the black tank. I think that's how MOST (but not all...) rigs are set up.
We quickly figured out that our holding tanks are too small...
After a couple of "extended showers": the gray tank was more than ready to be dumped...
( Thank goodness for those tankless hot water systems! )
