Extended warranty suggestions

Has anyone gotten an extended warranty they think is pretty darn good and want to pass on which one.
Thanks

I did have a Good Sam ext warranty on a 2000 Shasta Class C and it paid for itself when the rear brakes failed. Priced the warranty out recently for my 2015 Challenger and their prices have really skyrocketed and they only offer 12 months at a time at almost $3K per year. For that price I will just pay out of pocket if anything goes wrong. I also priced out Wholesale Warranty and their prices were also pretty high. Not sure what happened but extended warranty prices on RV's (motorhomes) have really gone up which makes it less desirable and not economically worth the ROI. Maybe its quality (poor) and quantity related.

Personally, I pass on all of them. They don't cover wear and tear or cosmetic issues, and the exclusions can bite you in the...

Save those $$$ in a special account, and self-insure. Did you know that about half of the cost of those goes to the dealer for commission? And still, the warranty companies make good profits or they couldn't stay in business.

Do a search on this forum, you'll find some folks who have come out ahead on warranties, and many who won't ever buy in again.

I had GSEW when I had my 5th wheel and truck. I paid for its self as the truck needed all new steering componets. Its just a matter of making sure the garage jumps through all the hoops before starting the work. I have it now on the MH knock of wood have not used it. I read a lot of post about take the monthly premium and put it in a special account. I just am not that good at doing something like that thus I pay up front.

Make sure you look at who can do the work, some limit to just one or two shops. That would not be good while traveling

I think the division bell is first, your own comfort zone and second, how available liquid funds are in an emergency/catastrophic breakdown. Extended warranties were designed to add profit for the dealer. Nothing more than a very expensive insurance policy. I read not to long ago that the big insurance companies were considering offering this type of additional coverage as well. That would probably bring down the cost for the others or put them out of business.

I got a quote for the Good Sam Extended Service Plan. I have a Chateau class C that is almost a year old. The quote was about $30 per month with a $100 deductible.

I know the ESP is not an actual warranty, but at this price it seems like it might be worth it.

Not a bad price at all but depends on what's covered, the qualifying process and who is authorized to do the work. If you have to take it to a CW...no good.

You don't have to take it to a CW, and not all CW service departments are bad. I've had some service and warranty work done at a CW and I was pretty happy overall. The service managers were reasonable, friendly, and competent, and the mechanics seemed to be knowledgeable. Like all RV service centers they are too busy, so scheduling can be difficult, but they were actually easier to schedule than other RV dealerships I've used. The service manager told me that the service dept is a separate business from the RV sales and store, and they want your business.

I haven't had any dealings with them other than the toy store. I fell it's kinda like the RV reviews...the ones that got stiffed are, for the most part, the only ones posting. Some stores are franchises and they probably better serve the industry. I don't have one close enough to me to find out. I probably shouldn't pass judgement without reason.
