It's getting colder...

So we had our first frost of the Season last night...

...And of course: the rig hasn't been winterized yet!
Normally we'd still be using it at this time of the year, but the Missus is in some trouble with her health, and we've got an appointment with the Dealership in two weeks,,,, They'll winterize and store it for us until next Spring.
My question: at what point does the weather start to seriously imperil the un-winterized pipes in an RV?
I did open up all of the faucets... hoping that any water that felt like "going hard": would at least have a bit more elbow room for it's efforts...

Need a hard freeze: several hours of temps <30f or so.

A quick frost where it gets cold enough to freeze the dew just before sunrise won't do it.

If you have a compressor you could blow out your lines as a precautionary measure.

Set your heat to 50° ,or lower should keep everything from freezing. Our forecast lows for next week is for mid twenties. Not scheduled for the shop for winterize and resealing roof until end of the month. May have to refill propane, that is only a ten minute drive.

We're looking at nighttime temperatures in the low forties for the rest of the time up until we store the rig...
It was last nights's cold snap: that just got me thinking about this sort of thing...

Find your low point drains and drain the lines. Give it a 1/2 day. Close them and dump winterizer down your drains and some in the toilet. Let season for the winter. Flush liberally in the spring and get back out there. Good luck

When the frost is on the pumpkin time to winterize

Hi Bob I guess I'm in the same boat as you this year so I'll be a busy old fart tomorrow. Last night it got down to 33 down here in west tern Orange County. I had an idea that might happen but sometime things slip by.
Sorry your bride is having a bit of the medical issue stuff...hope she'll be fine and be back to keeping you fed and warm.
We have just mailed our Tort Claim papers into the USPO to get the repairs and passenger window replace from the Postal Delivery Vehicle from him hitting our Axis that was parked on the strip that we just put in attached to our driveway. Over $3K to do the work. Now it's sitting time until the body shop in Sussex NJ has an open two days.
The bride isn't all that happy as she thinks it will cancel out our 45th anniversary trip plans for 11/2. Well I'll be up early and out the door to get the paper then back home for a ham and egger and start the winter time MH tasks. Hope to be finished by noon time and getting ready for the Bills game.
All the best and a speedy recovery for the bride.

So you have to drive a 100 miles just to hug the camper in the winter? not acceptable in my book

Not at all scientific but very interesting. When outside winter storage. Leave a bottle of water in the sink/storage bin/back bumper. I will winterize next week. We do use ours all winter. Just use bottlled water and flush with Antifreeze.
