Yeah, I saw that in the news a few days ago.

If it works out, I’m not sure what to expect. Will Thor quality improve? Will they import Euro RV designs? Or will Thor change Hymer to be similar to their other brands? Not that all Thor brands are similar — there’s a lot of difference between an Axis and Airstream trailer.

I for one would love to see some Hymer products over here (other than the little B / B+ class they sell currently). I think they would sell well.

But from what I have seen many of them seem underpowered for what we are use to (or demand) in the US market. Swap in some more HP and TQ, make them all left hand drive and we are good to go IMO.

Does Hymer currently sell B+ in North America? If so, I haven't seen yet.

I know they have significant Class B market share between Hymer and Roadtrek brands.

I know they sell B's but I thought they had a B+ in my latest Motorhome magazine (Advertisement).

They may not even bring the product here...just expand it in it's own market.

Thor could ruin them as they have the US Brands purchased. Companies that grow by acquisition seem to be good at sacrificing quality for increased sales and the resulting stock price and officer bonuses.

Just saw where Thor’s Airstream has introduced a smaller 19-foot Class B based on Mercedes Sprinter 1/2 ton van with single rear wheels. Most other previous models where 24-foot 1-ton Sprinters with DRW.

The price of this new 19-footer starts at $149k, which obviously seems marketed at luxury car owners and not true campers. Recall reading most Airstream Class B owners never sleep in them.

This may explain why Winnebago and Hymer each have a much larger Class B market share. Thor doesn’t really have a competitive van for camping. Maybe if they buy Hymer, they’ll have a greater presence in this growing segment.

If TMC keeps acquiring other brands, do you think that some Judge will want to bust Them up?

Not with the current administration (besides Forest River is almost as big or at least big enough to be considered "competition" unless, of course, Thor buys Forest River LOL).

I don't think Warren Buffett would ever let Forest river go!
There would be a better chance that Thor would get bought out by Forest River.

There goes the German quality down the drain. Everything Thor touches turns to garbage

It’s official, pending approval.

Thor Industries To Acquire Erwin Hymer Group | RV Business

Who would have expected this a year ago? Thor will now own RoadTrek and Hymer Class Bs in North America, matching or exceeding Winnebago in size in the one area they trailed. This should make Thor the largest in Class A, B, and C in North America.

Some additional information on acquisition is interesting. Surprising to me that Thor has much greater towable business than they do in motorhomes, while EHG relies more on motorized.
