Fresh water tank overflowing

I have a 2017 Hurricane 34J which has a problem with the fresh tank overflowing when hooked up to city water. A service tech told me that it was the backflow preventer in the pump that was bad and to replace it. I did this and it seemed to work at home when hooked up. I do have a pressure regulator set at 45 psi. When we went camping last week immediately the tank overflowed. I added an external check valve after the pump but the pump will not shut off.
Anyone else have this problem or how to resolve this?

Wow a good one. The tech was thinking you have the usual " Fresh water tank is overflowing."

The quick way to stop the pump is to pull the 12v fuse.

Now for trouble clearing.
1. Unplug from 110ac
2. Flip use/store to store
.....did the pump stop (you did put the 12v fuse back in, didn't you)
3. Turn the city water OFF
4. Check (operate 2 or 3 times) the fresh water pump switch, make sure it's off
5. Flip the use/store switch to ON
....did the pump start
6. If it did take the fresh water switch out of the panel (take a picture of the wires) and pull the wires off
....did the pump stop, if it did you have a bad switch maybe

We've never had this problem with any rv, but we always turn the pump off before turning the city water on.

Try this
Turn the city off.
Turn the pump off on off on OFF
then open a faucet to releave pressure then close the faucet.

Make sure the pump is off then turn the city water on.

Check the water level for the water tank, often.

The external check valve goes between the tank and the pump; not after the pump or the pump will run continually. The pump has two adjustments one for pressure relief and another for max pressure. These adjustments are separate from the anti-back flow valve. You don't have to replace the entire pump if the motor is still turning, only the pressure head.

You want to stop water from leaking back into the tank but you want the pump to see the water pressure in the lines so it knows when the set pressure is achieved. This setup works just like a foot valve on a shallow well pump..

Install a shutoff valve in the line between the tank and pump. Close valve when using city water, open valve to use pump. Works fine and no more worries about the check valve.

All of my units have had a valve between pump and tank. Have to close it to suck antifreeze into pump. I had intermittent problems with previous MH so put the removable panel on a hinge to make it easy to get to valve. Never had the problem again.

I have a valve at the tank but it’s not that easy to get to as it’s under the bed. I tried putting the check valve in before the pump an that did not work either. So I am back to the original setup and at present hooked up to the water at my house so far it seems to work as it should. My regulator is set at 50 psi thinking I may try dropping that down and see if that causes the problem to return.

There are many different type of water connection/dispersement systems out there. I had the same issue. The water selector stem needed to be replaced. 5 minute job. I have a Kantleak system.
