Unhappy "Garbage" smell in door stairwell

I have a garbage order in the stairwell of my Vegas. There's no oder under the sink or from the sink drain. Any ideas? Have to admit this trip has been anything but pleasant so far and it's only day four. First the "genie" goes out and now the smell from hell. Thanks for any suggestions.

If your house batteries are in your star well like a lot of the motorhomes check the water in them sounds like here overheating or they are overcharging

I had this happen to me
It turned out to be the vent under the kitchen sink
It was very loosely screwed
So I assume orders were leaching into the cabinets

My solution: I screwed the vent in tightly and then added my secret weapon - Borax detergent.
I poured some Borax down the kitchen sink drain with a little water, then came back later and smell was gone
I use Borax in my Black water tank as well

Get a medium sized box at Walmart for $5, while your Boondocking in their lot.

Is it a rotten egg smell? As bjones said could be dry batteries or the batteries are overcharging and off gassing. If the Vegas battery compartment is located same as our ACE the batteries are stored in the compartment directly to the right of the door stair well.

No, the Vegas batteries are under the steps, not in a separate compartment. In our 2016 Vegas, one battery was standard and the second was optional.

Good idea Taylorbob.

Also check to see if the carpet (in the step well) is getting wet when you drive in the rain. This might cause a musty odor. I insulated around the outside of my step well. Helps to keep the heat and sound (and water) out. You could silicone around the seams of this well (outside and under the RV).
