Generator enable mode

Would appreciate any advice on how this enable mode works. I have let the batteries in the coach run down to about 11 1/2 V with the enable switch in the on position and the generator did not kick on. How low do the batteries have to register before the generator starts. Does the generator and run until the batteries are fully charged, that's my understanding please advise, thank you
We have a 2016 Miramar 34.2

Where is the documentation on Auto Gen Start system?

I assume you are referring to the Auto Gen Start? I also want to know how to set it as I found no documentation in the literature that talks to the Auto Gen Start system. I was told it can trigger the gen to start based on inside temp or low house batteries.

I think the inside temperature would work on what you have the thermostat set at but again no clear documentation on how this works I'm just under the belief that it starts up with thevcoach batteries run down

I have the Magnum " stand alone " system that has a remote control for battery voltage, coach temperature, run time and quiet time settings. I set my voltage to 12.2 volts and coach temperature to 78 degrees in the event of shore power failure. There are little dials on the remote setting control where you will set your preferred settings. If you do not have the stand alone system, the settings for voltage and temperature can be set in the Magnum controller inside your coach. Can't say for sure, but I think Thor uses Magnum auto gen starts. Hope this helps. Oops, Set your coach thermostat about 2 degrees higher than what you set the auto gen start to. I also set my gen run time for 2 to 3 hours.

On mine you have to have the switch turned on and it will turn green with some kind of read out. Then the other box I found in one of my forward basement storage area. The clock and quiet time is not a feature that I have but can set the others. took some playing around with but works great. The AC inside it set for what ever you want so when the Gen fires up it will automatically come on and run for the time period you set the box to.

Here is a data sheet on the Magnum AGS which explains some of the functions.

AGS_data_sheet_revc.pdf

If old age memory serves me correctly, I read somewhere that the thermostat for determination of inside temperature is incorporated into the enable/disable/test switch. When the system kicks on for temperature it will run for the preset run time and then shut down. Although the generator will start based on inside temp, it does not shut down based on temp.

Not sure how much it would cost to add the system on to a coach. It is standard on most of the coaches with a residential fridge and inverter.

Adding Generator AutoStart

I had the Magnum Energy autostart installed in my 2015 Windsport 34f, last month. The price was $450, including the parts and labor. They mounted the control panel just to the inside of the door, above the factory installed switches. The unit itself was mounted to the inside top of the storage bay just underneath where they put the inside control panel. From there, they ran a wire back to the generator.

The generator start switches on the dash, wall, and on the generator were not affected. To use the Generator Auto Start, the battery control with has to be in USE. You can use the test switch on the control panel to see that everything works. You set the generator quiet times, the low voltage, and the room temp in the unit. The control panel has the temp sensor. You set the temperature controls to what you want, and when the set temp is reached, it turns the generator on, which turns the AC/Heat on.

Some good info here.... But don't set you volts down to low because if you have weak batteries the Gen my not have enough juice to start, I think 11.5 would be about right, when running just about everything thing that I can with the original batteries, it takes about 2 to 2.5 hours for Gen to fire up do to low volts. Runs for a hour, that's what I have it set up for and then starts the cycle over again. Both my inside AC units are set to 72 and this control box is set on 80. When inside temp hits 80 the Gen starts up runs for a hour and at the same time the inside AC will come on until it reaches 72. After a hour this cycle will start all over again. Really nice when you have furry pets inside while you go shopping...
