Generator switch??

2016 Thor hurricane 35C. When I try to start the generator at the dash panel switch I get a humming sound. If I try the generator switch above the door where the indicator lights for the accesaries switches are the generator starts right up. Any idea why the dash switch doesn't start the generator???

Just guessing here. Dash switch could be defective or wire to it could be shorted.

The humming sound is what has me scratching my head. If it was a short or a bad switch you would think it would have NO sound at all.

The fuel pump (when you prime the Genny) will make motor noise.....either the switch is trying to prime or perhaps your pressing the wrong end of switch? On mine you go one way (up?) to prime first, then I wait 30 - 45 sec, then flip the other way and it starts.

Just a thought.

Thanks kind of what I was thinking. I’ll pull the switch and inspect. Thanks!

Oh, reverse the leads of the wires on the back of the switch? Its a two position switch. Perhaps one lead (Start lead) fell off and other lead (Prime) is in the wrong spot. Remove switch and see if you have 3 wires?, one ground and two positive leads in two diff locations?

Just an idea.
