Hitch carrier platform experiences? Especially flip-up platform...

Hello, all. We have a Thor Siesta 24SA. We don't tow anything, but could use some extra storage, so I was thinking of buying one of those platform carriers that attach via the hitch. Wondered if anyone had any experience with them, and general or specific recommendations.

In particular, has anyone used one of those platforms that flip up vertically when not needed for storage? We like being able to fit into a 24ft site, and unloading the platform and flipping it up would probably be a one-person job - while unloading and REMOVING it would probably require 2 people. A small benefit, certainly. But the local RV great store guy felt the flip-up models are noisier, less stable, etc - altho he also doesn't SELL any of that type, either, so he may be steering me to what he does have...

Anyway - any insights would be appreciated!
Dan

My folks had one on the hitch of their Holiday Rambler...
It rattled and shook enough to un-nerve both of them, so they drilled and tapped the side of the receiver, and added a bolt that they could use to tighten things up!

We have one for my DW handicap scooter that is somewhat like you are stating, but it doesn’t collapse. It is about 3x5 foot in size and one person can slide it on and off the hitch after unloaded.

I use one for carrying bicycles and other bulky items. Mine doesn’t flip up - I didn’t want any complications or rattle points. I use a hitch locking collar to keep it from moving and I’m very happy with it in all respects. It is easy to remove by myself.

This is what we had on our last travel trailer.

Sturdy as heck. Worked great. I don't know if it can be mounted on the back of your coach though.
