I've ended up with (2) 10' hoses and (2) 5' hoses. This gives me the ability to go from 5' to 30 ' in 5' increments. We have used this in three different RVs and really like it.

We've used Camps Chem powders & liquids (liquids are too messy) & currently using TST drop ins all from Wal-Mart. Some folks don't like the chemicals & use the "Geo method" (Google it), I recommend the chemicals as they are for odor control & what vents out your roof can affect your neighbors. The chemicals are not designed to break down solids (not in the tank long enough) but for odor control.
You do not have to buy expensive rv toilet paper as long as it's septic safe & not more than 2 ply, the only rv toilet we've used in 40+ years of rving is what they gave us when we bought/traded rvs. The biggest secret to no black tank problems is plenty of water.
The clear fitting is not so you see what you had for dinner, but to be sure you've gotten the black tank rinsed thoroughly & should be placed at the rv & then add the hose. Always drain the black tank 1st then the grey/greys, you can leave the grey valve open while hooked up to sewer til a day or so before draining the black, but NEVER leave the black valve open, only when dumping.
One other recommendation, do not rely on the level sensors, especially the black, to be anywhere near accurate, typically they are totally useless after the 1st couple fills. So learn your rv & how long before you need to dump, the grey for the shower will back up into the shower if too full, the toilet makes a sound like your filling a bottle when it needs dumped.

Rude Awakenings...

We survived the delivery yesterday.
But in the "cold rain of a new beginning"; I learned something today.
Thor has a really nice little compartment in which to store the sewer hose...

....A 3" sewer hose: not even a 3 & 1/8" sewer hose!
Anything with a fitting already attached to it: no joy!
How doe we bundle these things up for storage?
What do we put them in?

Even More Crap...

This is starting to get interesting...

Last evening: I was crawling around under our 29H (looking for a place to hide from the Missus! )
About mid-ship: I saw the big black sewer pipe that runs from the tank, to the Bomb Bay Doors...
Right at the base of the tank, was another one of those handles that look like the ones used to open up, and dump the tanks...
This one was closed!
I guess that it's probably good that we haven't tried to empty the tanks yet!
I assume that this should be left open for normal use, and then closed up during the winterizing process???
Or leave it closed, and only open it for dumping purposes???

Don't expect this from Bretz RV. They give you a cheap sewer hose and nothing else. Mine has never been used as it is not sufficient to do the job properly. Make sure you have a good hose, with an extension.

Probably not. Not familiar with your model but mine also has a gate valve on the street side right at the base of the tank. I believe it should be kept closed until you dump. I think it's purpose is to keep the "solids" from settling in a long pipe possibly clogging it. I.e. You want to keep all of your stuff actually IN the tank until you want to dump it. I think these are only on units with the black tank pretty remote from the dump valve. On my last coach the gate valve was at the base of the tank quite distant from the dump port but it was operated by cable. I think two valves would be better.

FloJet Maintenance

FloJet 18555-000A Maintenance, Just an FYI. A few months ago I blew out the flojet pump by leaving the clean out water on with the tank valves shut and the pump off. Leaked all over. In the process of looking for a new one I ran across a company that sells parts and rebuild kits at much less than the cost of a new one. They sell all the parts, but I purchase the kit for $51.07 that includes seals, gaskets, impeller and housing. Also the pump is a Jabsco pump. Check your model number before using the enclosed parts list.
