RV storage... Powered up?

Do you store your RV hooked up to power ? We will be parking ours in the backyard under roof and I am running 50 amp service to the building. Planning on keeping the fridge on, and a/c up around 85 when not in use. We will have pretty convenient access to the RV, so I'm thinking it will be nice to keep her powered up for when we want to go out and tinker.. Any thoughts?

We keep ours hooked up to 50 amp service while in storage but still turn the refrigerator's and the heating and air off. It is stored inside our shop so we don't have to worry about winterizing. In the summer I don't keep the AC on in the shop so it does get warm in there unless I'm planning on being there for several hours then I will turn it on.

I wasn't down there yesterday thankfully. Had a heat index over a hundred here in Kentucky!

I keep mine next to the house and plugged in to keep batteries charged. I don't leave anything on, turn it on as needed, figure less wear and tear. If I'm going out to tinker I'll turn the AC on ahead of time to cool things off.

My Challenger is next to the house plugged into 50 AMP. I keep both fridges turned on and the AC set at 80 until we start getting ready to travel.

One point never mentioned on the forum is the effect the RV has on your home electric bill when you add running one or two additional AC units in the RV.

Also, if the coach will sit for a month or more between trips you need to remind yourself to go out and exercise the systems. In those cases, I go out about every three weeks to exercise the slides, leveling jacks and generator.

Great question, one I've wondered as I'm waiting on delivery of my first coach.

I also wondered if keeping the AC running and keeping the heat and humidity down, or maybe more constant, would have quite a few benefits (all but the wear on AC unit).

I also wondered about running a dehumidifier while stored and connected to power. Mine will be parked outside in hot, humid Arkansas.

Now I have a choice... as previous home required storage off site and no hookups available...
Parked behind garage - and working on 100A service to it close enough to plug in directly (currently has 30A running 50 feet of cord) - but primarily for use as an extra guest room when needed - or of course when tinkering/prepping for trip, etc...
Been plugged in most of the time since we moved in running the converter and 'always on' stuff... Plan to use the rig enough not to have to worry about exercising over periods of non-use...

I don't run the A/C or fridge (non-residential) unless I need to... My electric bill is high enough cooling the house - the rig is shaded most of the day... and these units (A/C itself and the RV from insulation standpoint) aren't known as being energy efficient...

(I don't run A/C in my garage/shop (detached) on regular basis either - only if I am using it - or about to be...)

RV storage

We keep our ACE in our side yard, have a 30A receptacle for it. We keep it powered up, fridge and A/C (the one that came with it, not the extra one we added) on. During the summer we set the A/C to 75; winter to 78. We keep our unit provisioned and ready to go all the time, without the A/C the staples in the pantry don't last as long. By running the A/C we keep the humidity down and mold out. No musty unused smell either. Really does not add much to our electric bill. We have an extended service plan, so if using the A/C makes it die sooner, it is covered under the extended service plan.

Another point--it is not under cover (envious of those of you who can do that), so it is sitting in direct sun. Without A/C it gets VERY hot inside and then takes FOREVER to cool down so we can comfortably drive to our camping destination.
