Information on keyless door locks

Has anyone purchased a keyless door lock for their RV? Thinking about getting one but I'd like to know if it's worth it. Thanks!

Which model did you purchase? Did it just fit in without any modifications. Does it only have 1 Locking mechanism rather than 2? Which coach do you own? Could you post a pic, if possible. Thanks.

Thanks. I'll have to look into that and see if it will fit on my Axis.

All the RV keyless locks say they are for trailers, not motorhomes. Anyone installed one in a Thor? In particular a later model Windsport/Hurricane?

in our case the rvlock was not the same size as the original in our '17 windsport 29M , would love to find a replacement but have had no success yet..

I bought the rv lock for my ace ...
https://www.rvlock.com/collections/f...oducts/class-c
Installed it and didn't work...
The screen door would have to be modified to make the lock work...
The lock handle hits by about a 1/4".
I just sent it back and bought the bauer lock..
https://www.rvupgradestore.com/Bauer...0342491BB56019

The bauer lock fit but the door is difficult to close unless you use the handle and retract the plunger...
I am hoping I can do some more adjustment and fix it.
Hope this helps

Thanks for the info. It looks like the Bauer lock only has a single locking plunger rather than the double lock in the original lock. Is that correct?

We ended up with a Bauer on our ACE 30.1 mostly because of the clearance problem cited with the RVLock. I'd found multiple posts on other forums citing clearance problems with screen door openings and wasn't excited about making those kinds of modifications.

I would have preferred the RVLock because of its greater selection of codes - The Bauer lock actually only has a maximum of 256 codes, but in reality, if someone wants in, its not very hard and they are going to destroy the door instead of trying to figure out a code. We did lose the two locking bolts, but neither would hold up to a willing crow bar.

The lock fit in the door cutout with no problems. Only issue is that one of the exterior decals was cut around the OEM door lock and the Bauer is slightly smaller. I have some thin sheet rubber and I may just cut a slightly larger "gasket" to provide a better look.

I had to use the existing door strike as Thor apparently installed the strike before mounting the door and it looked like changing the strike to the one provided by Bauer would have involved removing the door. Fortunately they are virtually identical and the Bauer lock works with the OEM door strike.

Clearance with the screen door opening for exterior door access is tight and sometimes it takes two hands, or a very contorted left hand to close the door. I may end up modifying the screen door after all.

Only problem I've had is that the lock has reverted to its default code twice. Not sure what is causing it, but if it happens again I'll be talking with Bauer about it.

Does the lock still have a normal bolt (or whatever the angled portion is called) to allow you to close the door and have it stay closed even when the deadbolt isn't engaged?

There is a regular door latch that is operated by the paddles on the interior and exterior. When the door is locked, the dead bolt extends and the interior and exterior paddles are also locked. You just don't have the two sets of keys that the OEM lock has.

RV Club has several installation videos on it well worth the membership fee.

So after a two weeks with the bauer lock I finally modified the handle.
The lock it self works good and mywife is happy.
So I went to Home Depot and add a draw pull to the handle.
See attached pics.

I also had to notch the screen door cover but was minor modification.

It works great and my big chubby fingers.

If you look up at post #11 you will see it left some outside cosmetic issues on an ACE 30.1. The decals were put on after the factory lock it would seem and the Bauer is smaller than the outside of the factory lock.
