Inverter

I have a 2016 ACE 30.2 motorhome. Unless i am plugged in to shore power, my electrical outlets do not work, even with the engine running or with the generator running. Any thoughts ?? Does my unit have an inverter ??

I doubt if you have an inverter

If you check the specifications on your rig: it should list the standard equipment that it came with.
But I'm also guessing that you may not have one...

regardless of whether you have an Inverter or not, ALL the outlets and 120v items should operate just fine when you are plugged into shore power, OR are running the generator...though I suppose, like others, the generator BREAKER can trip, leaving you thinking that the generator is running, and yet no power is getting to the breaker panel.

Check the breaker on the top/side of your generator, and RESET it.

now, if you have a RESIDENTIAL 120v fridge, you will certainly have an Inverter, though smaller coaches like yours will probably only have that circuit run thru the Inverter, while all other outlets will not be operational unless on shore or generator.

Two issues going on...whether you have an inverter or not, and...why you don't have power to outlets with generator running. 1st, as stated, you probably don't have an inverter. 2nd, there's a power breakdown between your generator and distribution panel. You need to resolve this issue first. May be a main breaker...there's a couple of guys on here that are masterminds of all things power with RV's. They scan the forum regularly and will probably be showing up at your door shortly. Brew fresh coffee.

Inverters are installed on all plant 750 coaches (ACE, Hurricane, Windsport) that have residential refrigerators or outside kitchens. If your coach does not have a refrigerator that operates ONLY on electricity, Thor did not install an inverter.

Check the wire nut connections on your Automatic Transfer Switch for no power with the generator running: common Thor problem.

Thanks for the information. I’m thinking I don’t have an inverter. All I’ve found is the breaker panel.

My refer runs on electric and propane.

This is over my head. The only time the outlets work is when connected to shore power. When i run the generator the ac, refer and everything else works but not the outlets. Confusing. Ive checked the breakers etc.

check your GFCI breaker/outlet in the bathroom, as it probably feeds all your other outlets... reset it.

Your fridge is an 'auto' absorption RV fridge, and can run on either propane or 120v, and can switch automatically between the two.... but an inverter is not needed for it.

Your generator should supply ALL electricity to your coach, so therefore you have something keeping the outlets from working. A tripped outlet circuit breaker, or a tripped GFCI outlet. There is no difference between what the Shore Power and Generator supply power to.

Unless you have 50 Amp service and one hot leg on the generator does not connect.

As has been mentioned, most likely your GFCI needs to be reset. Keep us posted.

It's always nice to hear the resolve to an issue so thanks for finishing the story for us. As with most things, the simplest answer is usually the right one.
