Leveling Jacks during storm. I agree with several other folks that stated it is best to have the jacks down. My wife and I have ridden out one hurricane in ours. It is a Class C 31 Feet. My approach was jacks down, moved out from under trees, was relative close to a forest which blocked some of the winds and parked next to a 45 Tiffin which also helped to block some of the winds. Had full water tank too for extra weight. We got rocked to sleep that night, but the only thing we lost was the outdoor step-mat, so I can't complain. Hope this info. helps. Best of luck.

We got surprised in the night at the Dodge City KOA by a severe thunderstorm in our 26' class C. With the jacks down we still had some sway but nothing like it would have been without them. Heavy rain, lots of thunder and lightning and straight line gusts of 60-65mph for about 2 1/2 hrs. Glad it was a fairly new park, no trees to worry about. No damage in the morning.

The original question was for an unoccupied RV to ride out a storm... In that case I don’t think there is a significant difference between jacks up or down... I lean to letting it sway. Things that flex are less likely to break in my mind.
If occupied, jacks down will likely make the occupants feel better - and how we rode out Matthew in my previous post and many t-storms over years.

A hurricane sounds like a good reason to jump in the RV and leave the area.
