I have a TomTom Rider (Motorcycle GPS) that has lots of bells and whistles and IHO is far better than a lot of the RV-oriented GPS. I made a cedar cradle and it sits on the dash above the radio.

Before departing on a long trip I go to the "mother site" for TomTom to map out my route (including planned rest and gas stop, sites, etc) then download to the GPS. Take GPS out to RV, plug it in and go.

When I get back from a trip before I put it back on the Gold Wing I can download actual route used, stops, etc.

And, I didn't have to lay out more $$$ 'cause I already have a great GPS.

I'm trying to plan our Florida trip using RVParky. Great program - and free. But I'm having difficulties... When I use RVParky on my laptop, it's easy to see and I can print the route. However, as I drag the screen to move the map, it doesn't populate the points of interest. I have to find a city along the way then search for that city. Only then will POIs populate around that city. Then dragging the screen to go further and nothing populates.
When I use it on the iPad, dragging along populates the POIs along the way. But I can't print from the iPad (app doesn't give the option).

Any RVParky experts out there?

Lots of good suggestions above. I'm a little surprised that that there is no mention of Co-Pilot. Co-Pilot runs on your smart phone or iPad and has a ton of helpful settings. You might want to check it out.

I rarely use any type of 'guidance' while driving, only Google maps for the basic route to my destination. I threw out GPS units a long time ago.

How do you take low bridges, propane restrictions and things like grade into account?
