Sound and heat

Has anyone used the Fatmat hood liner in a Thor 2017 22b e450 to reduce the noise and heat level?

Not in the E450 but sure it would work, good product even if it is a little expensive.

Does your MH have the same type cover over the engine that the e450 has?

Are you asking about the doghouse on the inside?

Our Axis is on an E-350 frame and I used fatmat on the inside of the doghouse. Thor already had some there so I just doubled it up. Did a good job reducing some of the noise (I also put some under the "hood" which may not make a difference for you since you aren't sitting right on top of it).

I haven't but I sure have considered doing something like that. Still may some day..... that E-450 V-10 is loud right there at my feet!

One of the reasons for the 305 HP V10 rather than the 362 HP in the E series is heat especially around the firewall area. Might want to consider how adding a 1/2 to 3/4 inch piece of insulation to the inside of the doghouse may impact air flow around the engine.

If the issue is sound you might want to consider a thinner sound deadening material rather than a insulating material.

Sadly my project list this weekend includes disassembling the trim ring around the passenger window looking for a leak the factory service guys missed (and dewinterizing, and cleaning, and ..., and ... oh yeah and mow the lawn LOL).

I would love to hear from anyone that has completed this successfully- I have some laying around from a project like that in my vette and would be simple to perform.

Completed putting the fat mat in the doghouse of my MH. Haven't had a chance to try it out yet, hope to soon.

I did too. Seems quieter but I have no objective measurement.
