I must say, the Axxera AVM 70 that came with our rig is a huge disappointment. Also have issues with the Girard GSWH2 instant HW Heater, but will start a new thread on that[/QUOTE]

Many Thor owners have complaints regarding the Axxera radio..our 2016 has an older model which has performed fairly well. Yes, when the turn signal is used the radio volume cuts off.

Regarding play of music/books etc ... we use an external Bluetooth speaker which we set on the dash...move to the bedroom...take outside ...
We have a lot of music on our phones...and it comes in real handy.
We have an Altec Lansing ... they make several different models..keep in mind, if you are thinking about going this route...the inexpensive models have marginal speaker quality. We bought a mid-priced one @$70.

You will get feedback from other Thor owners who have replaced the Axxera with another brand radio with good results.

Lots of info from this Forum !

Curious about the unused "monitor" cable. Could that be connected to an additional dash mounted monitor or tablet?

Not only did the radio go silent when turn signals were on it did the same when I shifted into reverse. The other issue I had with the turn signals was that I like to leave the rear camera on when driving so I can see my Jeep. Any time I used the turn signals the monitor would return to the radio screen instead of the camera where I wanted it.

I pulled the radio out from the dash and when I looked at the wiring I found an orange wire labeled "Back View Control". I disconnected that wire and now the cameras work the way I want them to. Shifting to reverse or using the turn signals doesn't automatically switch to camera view and silence the radio. The good news is that I can manually switch to camera mode and it stays on the camera and switches to the correct side camera when signals are used. I still have volume control using the "old fashioned method" of turning the knob.
Pete -
How hard was it to get the radio out? I have a 2018 Windsport & I'd like to do the same thing.

Every time I use the turn signal, I lose the sound & the back up camera.

thx

If I remember correctly there is a plastic trim around the radio that snaps on and off. I pulled that off and used the tools that came with the radio to get it out. The instructions were in the manual for the radio that I looked up online. There was also probably a manual in the big bag of them I received. I find it easier to look online than go through that bag.

OK, thanks. I did see some L-shaped items in my bag of extras. I thought they were for "installation" & I figured maybe Thor used some other part instead.

Now it makes sense... I was able to get the trim piece off before I stalled out.

I'll take a crack at this again tomorrow.

Thanks for the help.

With my Exterra Radio, I either have Radio with backup camera, or rear camera to watch towed vehicle, but no Radio. Can't or don't know how to get rear camera and radio to be on together. 2015 Vegas 24.1 Radio doesn't go up or down with turn signals turned on.

In my 2017 Miramar if I have the radio on and use the turn signal the sound on the radio goes away. Also when driving the radio goes into a “PI Search” constantly as I go down the road. Get a few seconds of music only to have it go into the search mode.

Just tap the screen to exit the rear camera view if you want to change stations or make other changes, then just tap the camera icon again to get the rear camera display back.
We've found the same to be true in our's. When towing the car or motorcycle trailer I pretty much have that rear camera on all the time just to keep tabs on things. If not towing usually not. The flasher volume reduction is no big deal to me. I generally have the cruise set on 65, so changing lanes is mostly to let people merge onto the highway. And most of the news and music I get on Sirius anyway. If I miss something I just skip back.

With your model Axxera radio there should be a Mode button that you can push and hold to switch to rear camera and leave the radio running. But in that "mode" you can not change the radio volume.

my radio goes silent when turn signal is on

I went to Product Firmware Updates and selected my model. AVM70, and followed their instructions and it works great. I no longer have interrupted music when using turn signals.

On my Axxera...
Use the rear camera mode (while listening to CD, Blue tooth, Radio)
While in rear camera mode you adjust the volume & see what’s behind you.
Then, when you turn your blinkers on, volume stays the same

It took me a while reading numerous threads on this Forum to figure out.
But, as long as I’m in rear camera mode, volume does not change when my turn signals go on

Axxera Radio sound goes off when blinkers are on

Axxera tech support is well aware of the issue of the radio going silent when the blinkers are on. As also suggested in previous threads herein, they instructed me that the issue can be resolved by downloading a firmware fix from the Axxera web site onto a USB thumb drive, and inserting the thumb drive into the radio's USB port and uploading the file. I will be trying this sometime in the next week.

Also note: the Axxera tech support are also aware that this radio drains the battery even when it appears to be "off." Solution for this is to either disconnect the chassis battery with the disconnect switch located above the foot pedal on a Mercedes Sprinter, or install a toggle power disconnect switch to the red wire located behind the radio. (Supposedly the radio can be easily removed by prying off the front trim, then sliding two knives down the sided to release the clips holding it in place) I haven't tried either the blinker fix or the battery drain fix yet, but intend to do so in the next few weeks. In the meantime, wile in storage, I intend to disconnect the battery using the disconnect mechanism locate above the foot pedal.

Yup - mine is same way. When the camera video is activated, the system is also looking for a mic input, hence the radio goes silent.
