Oldies but still goodies

We recently got a 2005 Thor Fourwinds Hurricane and we are new to RVing.
The unit is beautiful !!! We have been checking all systems out and everything has been great..... until now... We have discovered that there is mold and stuff in our fresh water holding tank.....
Question #1 am I to believe that the only drain is the little drip thing on the back of the drivers side is the only drain ????

Question #2 can this be cleaned sufficiently??

Probably is unless you want to remove the fill hose, just drain it, fill with a solution of water and bleach, drive around to agitate the water around the tank, then run water through your water faucets until you smell bleach, then drain and add fresh water a couple of times and it will be fine. This should be done annually if not a couple times a year. I always leave about 1/3 of water in my tank while parked or traveling. If it doesnt move for a while, drain and add freash water before use.

Welcome to the forum, and congratulations on finding a really great rig!
Fourwinds is right: use the "water, bleach & agitation" trick, and give it a real good sloshing around...

Our Outlaw has the same spout. Take the cap off at the inlet, and it does a pretty good job of draining the tank.
If you wanted to get fancy: you could rig up an air hose to the water inlet, and keep a bit of pressure in the tank. That might help to empty it quicker...

Welcome and congradulatons.

Can you see this mold in the tank? Or are you going by the color or smell of the water?

If you can "see it" I would use bleach and water like above and let it sit overnight. Then check the tank - if it still looks dirty do it again. You might want to do it twice anyway but since you know its bad I would let it sit for like 24 hours then flush twice!

You could use bottle water for drinking and use this holding tank water for tolet and washing hands until you know its safe to drink. I do that for the first tank of the season anyway so Im not drinking bleach.

If it smells like sulfur:
Give it the treatment!

I think it was like a 1/4 per 10 gal? My tank is 50 and I use 3/4 cup .... but they say to dilute it first with like a GAL of water when you add to the tank.

Or rupture the tank. That'll fix the problem.

"A bit of pressure..."

But you are correct: rupture the thing, and it'll empty out REALLY fast!
