Operation of Generator-4kw Guardian

I have started and run the generator before but have not really tried to check to see if it is actually generating ac. So today decided to try and see if it works. Tried a 110v outlet over the sink and the heating a cooling fans. Neither worked. The only thing I was shown was how to start it. I have looked thru the manuals and they are worthless as far as how It should work.

So need a some guidance on the procedures to make it operate the MH.

There may be a problem with my operating procurers, the generator, or some relay. Hopping its a operating procedure.

Any help would be appreciated.

Are you plugged in? If so unplug and try again.

Open the outside panel where the generator is, usually there is a set of breakers right there--check if they are tripped.

If he was plugged in the outlets/fans would have worked even without the generator running.

After checking the breakers at the generator check your transfer switch and the wirenuts connecting the generator to it - common issue.

Didn't see any breakers in the generator area but it was raining and just did a quick look. Shore power was disconnected when I checked but not when I started it.
Looked for a transfer switch and didn't see one or a plug in for the 30 amp power cord. The only thing that I noticed in the gen compartment was a fuse and I checked it and it was ok.

Thanks for the replies.

Probably no plug receptacle for your coach that goes to the generator. The transfer switch is usually located inside near the power distribution panel. You generally have to remove a board to get to it.

Wondering why would they make it so that u have to remove a panel to get to the transfer switch? Unless its a relay that u mentioned.

Its sleeting here with snow following so may not try to mess with the gen until after it stops. A miserable day with a current 23 degs w/ a 9-16 mph wind

Because it's an automatic transfer switch. It automatically switches to generator power when the generator is running; otherwise it connects to the shore power side. That is how it is "Supposed" to work.

Thor connects the switch using twisted wire nuts and many people have found this to be the problem when either the generator or shore power does not supply 120 VAC. Some have found heating and arcing due to poor connections.

First thanks for all the reply's.

First time I felt like messing with it since posting, we had about 13-14" of snow and cold weather. Below freezing until yesterday.

The problem was the transfer switch. Which is that I have to manually have to plug in the shore power plug into a receptaclel in the power cord storage hole. I looked before but did not see it because the cord rolls were hiding it. This time I used a flash light. Its located on the upper left side of the cord storage box.

Was able to exercise the gen and all is good, except noticed the lower edge of the breather box looks wet.

On to the next opportunity

PS
The plug was a pain to plug in to the receptacle
