Paint coating

I bought a 2014 Ace 30.1 brand new from Camping world in Lakewood NJ. They suggested I have a paint sealant clear coat done to protect the color. I had it done and this summer the paint faded and is several shades of chalky tan. Could I compound it and if so can I use polishing or rubbing? And after that do I need to wax?
Thanks Dan

Before you try to do anything with it: I'd ask them how good the warranty is...
Good luck!

First thing I did. 5 year up like the month before I took it in to them. They would do nothing. Didn't expect them to. Nothing that ever broke or quit working from day 1 wasn't covered. The first year I paid for the good Sam full coverage. They didn't pay for a Jack motor so I dropped the ins.

We have a 2016 Hurricane we bought new. I had it polished, compounded and polished again. Fading returns after 6 months or so. Now it is stored outside uncovered so I understand that is not ideal. But, my other vehicles are stored outside with no fading. As I understand it is the fiberglass gel coat that is not painteted as they would with a fiberglass corvette that is to blame. My detailer was going to compound and polish again but after some research he is going to apply PolyCoat as soon as the weather warms up in Maryland.

Thanks for your reply. There was some sort of clear coat applied by the dealer and that is what is failing. I'm trying to figure out how to deal with that without sanding down the whole thing.

Paint sealer is the oldest, profit generating scam in the automotive dealer business, including motorhomes. you were taken and there's nothing they will do about it. They will ask you...did you leave it outside?????

Rotterdam I would check with the dealer as to what type of “sealer/coat” they put on. That may assist you with removal. After researching Polycoat they do state it must be reapplied about every 6 months but only one or two coats. They also have a solution to completely remove the coating. That is why I suggested checking with the dealer as there may be a solution to dissolve the coating. Best of luck. I do know if I buy another MH it will have real paint on it not just a gel coat.
