re our 2016 Axis 24.1 ... under the steering wheel to the right, is an OBD box with wires coming from both right and left sides as well as another. The Thor manual does not address this nor could I find it in Ed's Manual (it may be there) ...
Is this item connected to our mirror cameras ? or some other function ?
Thankyou for the feedback !
Used to check the engine and emissions of your vehicle. It is used by a technician, they can plug into that port and download engine codes which your onboard computer will store.
You can also purchase engine monitoring tools such as ScanGauge and plug into that port. You can monitor more engine parameters and get fuel usage real time!
If your engine check light comes on, the Scangauge will also give you the fault code (which you can look up on line) and allows you to delete the code from your computer which turns off the engine check light. It beats having to take the vehicle to a mechanic and having him charge you $75 to do it. It's also nice to know that you may be having problems with an O2 sensor rather than some major problem with your engine. And if you zero it out, it may go away.
I don't have a ScanGauge (have looked at them though...) - but do have a code reader... The OBD 2 connector is standard on all passenger cars since the late 90's... So one code reader reads all the engine fault codes. (not the ABS or other systems - they haven't standardized that...)
Some auto parts stores will also read the code for free.
All the readers I have seen allow you to reset as well. (Of course if the fault still exists it will come back on shortly...)
Thank you for the add'l info...I will pass on to Ron !
Do you have one ?
I have one and I just had an engine check light come in in my 2016 Axis. I cleared it with the ScanGuage (o2 sensor problem) and it has not reappeared. It's great for mpg averages and what effect wind and hills have on your gas mileage. It also helps solve "lead foot" starts and stops. Well worth the price.
